If you are a snake, especially a mean rattlesnake , you might know enough to back off when you see a hounddog or Rottweiler, but a Chinhuahua?

So today’s story of dog heroism comes from  Masonville, Colorado, where a one year old who was playing with the water in her grandparents birdbath disturbed  a nearby rattlesnake, who attempted to bite the child.

But five pound Zoey came to her rescue, putting her tiny body in the way of the strike, saving the child’s life.

As grandmom remarked:

“These little bitty dogs, they just don’t really get credit,” Booker’s grandma Denise Long told the Loveland Daily Reporter-Herald.
