Being a Prog Rock fan from way back, when I noticed that these guys mentioned Moog Synth, I was in! Now my ear tells me it is a Mini Moog, rather than the mad scientist weapon preferred by Keith Emerson and Rick Wakeman, but a Moog is a Moog!

Oblivion Sun is the phoenix rising out of the ashes, in this case the ashes from Happy The Man.

I love prog rock when it is the real thing, and these guys are the real thing.

Oblivion Sun has Happy The Man stalwarts Frank Wyatt (Keyboards and Sax)  and Stanley Whitaker (Guitar and Sax) at the helm. They are also joined by Chris Mack (Drums), Dave DeMarco (Bass) and Bill Plummer (Keyboards). Actually Bill gets double billing, he also did a lot of the engineering and production on this CD. Which incidentally is very well engineered.

What I found interesting with Oblivion Sun are the writing credits, most bands have one or maybe two contributors, in this band everyone has a turn. Even better they all seem to be on the same page. There is a great continuity in the compositions and overall style.

Oblivion Sun is well worth the effort of tracking down. You can get your copy from MVD.
