Christmas is the time of year when the music you hear can fill your hearts with lots of spirits and help prepare you better for the upcoming holiday. When I heard about Rodney Carrington’s new CD, Make It Christmas, I got all excited. I recognized his name as the one who co-wrote and co-starred with Toby Keith in Beer For My Horses which recently won the Tex Ritter award from the Academy of Country Music for 2009. In fact it is the first country music song that I introduced my husband to that he actually liked.

Carrington also co-starred in a music video with Trace Adkins, I Got My Game On which won three awards at the 2008 CMT Music Video Awards including Male Video of the Year and Video Director of the Year. He also won the category Supporting Character of the Year for his role in the video

Rodney Carrington is a very talented man. He is a comedian, actor, writer and a singer. This is his very first Christmas Album with a selection of songs added along with some of the original and traditional songs like White Christmas.

Carrington says he got his inspiration for this album from the songs he includes on here. “People hear my funny songs and always say that I have a great voice. They ask me why I don’t do some serious music. So, this record ain’t got a funny song on it. It’s a big-band, Frank Sinatra type Christmas record, something I’ve always wanted to do.”

Other traditional tunes included on this album include, Have Yourself a Merry Little Christmas, and Oh Holy Night, Winter Wonderland, I’ll Be Home for Christmas, and Mary Did You Know.

Carrington also includes a new one that he wrote himself such as, The Presents Under The Tree (Better Be For Me). Also included is Make It Christmas written by Steve Dorff, Camouflage and Christmas Lights which was co-written by Dorff’s son Andrew, and Presence Of Love. Carrington added another one that is sad but pleasant called Grown Up Christmas List.

So if you are in the mood for a new Christmas Album this year you can find Make It Christmas at Amazon by clicking on the cover art above. If you want to try one of the tracks out first you can go to his website and check out the video of Camouflage and Christmas Lights. I really liked it and I am sure you will too. Rodney also has a Facebook page available.
