There are two things that upset Jan and I more than anything else, injustice, and abuse, particularly when it involves children. There is something inherently evil about these subjects.
The Caylee Anthony case makes me want to cry. What possible reason could there be to kill the little girl? As it stands mother Casey Anthony faces the Death Penalty, and that in my mind is her well deserved reward for her actions.
We started the show with a quick wrap up of the past week in the Casey Anthony case. Casey is safely behind bars, which is likely to be her home for the rest of her natural life, yet things are still emerging in the case.
The grand parents of Caylee Anthony, George and Cindy Anthony have spent more time in the media spotlight since last July than Paris Hilton! They have become part of a couple of dubious Foundations, and for the most part have contributed zero to the case. They did manage to get themselves on Larry King last week, which I found surprising. I used to have great respect for Larry, why he would want that riff raff on his show is beyond me.
The bulk of the broadcast concerned the ugly story that the main stream media is avoiding like a rash.
Aaliyah Bedwell is a three year old girl in Northern California, there are indications that she has been abused, both physically and sexually. Simple I hear you say, call the cops, call CPS, call anyone in authority. Well it does not always work out that way. What happens when you are dealing with small town injustice? No one listens, particularly when the accused’s family has connections.
I’ll tell you what happens, trouble!
The accused has an aggressive little witch as council Sandra Amara, trust me folks you would not want to invite her to your BBQ. She certainly won’t talk to us, but maybe we have a rabbit up our sleeve!
Ms Amara, you can only duck us for so long. Amara pulled a couple of interesting stunts this past week, and they would not have worked in a big city, but I guess when you live in a small town and everyone knows everyone, you can get away with it. Here is the problem Sandy, media is starting to sniff around, the heat is going up in the kitchen. BNN is low on the totem pole, but guess what? We have friends in high places. Dodging us only creates a bigger problem for a two bit lawyer when this story explodes. Ms Amara, do you not think it is time to talk to us?
If, and actually it is not ‘if’, it is when this goes to trial, what will Amara do? Maybe a twist on the OJ Simpson case? Remember Johnny Cochran and the glove, I can see Amara making some similar idiot claim “If the penis don’t fit you must acquitâ€!
We had a number of guests on the show, Aaliyah’s grandfather Tim Bedwell, her aunts Cara and Christen Bedwell, Connie’s Boy Friend Darrel, and Connie’s best friend Sara. We also had Denny Griffin, crime writer, author and all around nice guy. Paul Scharff who is a good friend of BNN also called in. Paul lost his father in a senseless killing spree almost 30 years ago. The case has been solved, but guess what? Small town injustice is at work.
Lets kick the bums out! Why do we have this small town idiocy? Well I can answer that, it is because we allow it. I say enough, lets boot all of these people out of office, and lets put a serious muzzle on lawyers in general.
You can catch the entire show here.

Follow-up comment rss or Leave a TrackbackGreat show Simon & Jan. Protecting Aaliyah is priority but I have to say that watching this small town judicial system fold and be held accountable for their actions will be the icing on the cake.
IMO, Larry King Live only made The Anthony’s look ridiculous and deceitful. It showed with their body language and their answers. Cindy even turned on Conway during the interview. I say they will be the ones who bring themselves down. It’s a real 3 ring circus with them.
It is a sad shame when an abuse is reported and nothing is done about it. The usual case is the parent who reports it is put on trial instead of the guilty party. The little child needs someone to intervene and it looks like at this point only God will be able to do that. If law enforcement in that area is so lax, they all need to be booted and replaced with real lawmen. No child should continue to suffer at the hands of an adult who is so heartless and cruel. As in Caylee Anthonys case, if someone had interceded maybe she would still be here with us.
As far as the Anthonys appearance on the Larry King show, well, that was a total joke if you ask me. It is obviois that Sindy is the boss in that family, even over the paid attorney. Nobody gets one over on her, but she sure tries to pull it over everyone elses eyes. I too am surprised that LK would allow them to come on his show and look so sad and pitiful and lie like a cheap rug! I emailed LK to tell him what I thought of his show with them too and really I do not care how it went over. At least I got it off my chest! If the media would stop playing around with this mess, it might die down some but they continue to feed the Anthony disease. Telling us and wanting us to believe that certain facts that law enforcement have told us are not true. Are we supposed to believe them over officials? I would not trust them in an outhouse with a muzzle on!
Last summer in august a beautiful little 11 year old girl died in our town. She lived in deplorable conditions. Animals and animal feces and garbage everywhere , this family was reported to the authorities numerous times to no avail finally she was found critically injured and died from her injuries which were strangulation and sexual assault supposedly by a family member. Google erin maxwell homicide and the story should come up its sad. I know a lot about this case because the little girl was best of friends with my niece and my sister has crusaded to get the director of child services removed. but we have the same small town crap covering their butts here that they are pulling in california. its a sad world out there
hmm…bargain chip between control freak mother and attention seeking adult child ? lol
Thank goodness one of this towns dirty little secrets has escaped and expanded beyond their County.
Thank goodness also that bloggnews and other organizations have been able to hear about this case, do their research and validate before they act and then use the power of numbers. As I have read on Joe’s web site, yes the power of one can be multiplied and reach many more ears by consolidating and net working with other groups with similar causes.
DonFL – I don’t understand who you are talking about in your 8:43 pm post.

A news article on Connie
Well…wild guess here but I think me means the mom and daughter Anthony team in his post about control freak mom and attention seeking adult child.
think *he* means, not me lol
Yea, saw that news article. Interesting timing that they finally decide to run an article. It actually says nothing new that hasn’t already been said from what I could see.
Of course they are going to say the police said they did an investigation. They already admitted they have to stay in the good graces of the police department. It would have been a little more informative/investigative to the general public if they had also interviewed more than Connie. Sounds like they tried to interview the father but he didn’t respond to them. If they had also interviewed more than just Connie, they would have also gotten refuting accounts of the supposed police investigation.
At least they did print an article after all this time.
Talina, 10:15am, I agree. No new information that I can see either. But I am happy that this is now in a newspaper in their county. And it just blows my mind that Dustin will not comment. I just don’t understand it.
A search of court records did not reveal a criminal case in Placer County. There is civil case filed against Connie Bedwell by Aaliyah’s father, Dustin Thompson. The document was not available to view this week, but it appears to be a temporary restraining order filed against Bedwell. (from the Auburn Journal)
Wouldn’t these allegations be a criminal case? I’m surprised they didn’t find more, but referred to other documentation that sided with the father that apparently kept it from reaching that level.
The father has nothing to gain by defending himself to people outside the case. It would turn it into a he said/she said circus. His lawyer is probably hoping the Bedwells will get in trouble this way, giving her client the advantage in court. They can twist everything they are putting out there.
Val, I agree with what you said: “His lawyer is probably hoping the Bedwells will get in trouble this way” ………….
I’ve only hired one lawyer in a divorce case, but it was eye opening. She was foul mouthed, unpleasant, and a barracuda, even to ME; one of the best in my state. My ex hired a new lawyer who tried to throw everything at me. When my lawyer read the outrageous depositions she smirked and said “All you have to do is tell the truth”, with photos and documentation. She made hamburger out of my ex in court.
I like how someone commented on that news article printed in Auburn: “MIND YOUR BUSINESS”.
That comment stinks of a failed attempt to deter the concerned from the truth.
I commented on the Auburn article. Finally an editor LOCALLY prints the story…
That comment stinks of a failed attempt to deter the concerned from the truth.
How does it do that? Are we all going to assume anyone and everyone who says the opposite of what Connie wants is some how in a conspiracy with the father and the whole county? Please the father would have to more money then god to get away with this its.. so frivolous compared to other crimes you would stick your neck out for.
In my mind, it’s messed up for an adult…of sound mind to suggest that everyone “mind their own business” when to my knowledge…everyone who HASN’T minded their own business only has this girl’s safety in mind. What is wrong with people outside the court & family showing concern after viewing a video which one can conclude their own opinion on “what it suggests”.
Blah. Sorry if I made no sense…LOL I need coffee to function and I’m only 1/2 done.
LOL tis fine
I am just saying their point was it was a family court proceeding and looking at what they know of how the court is handling it that it doesn’t seem to be anyones business.
I do understand caring for a child and wanting to help out. And I understand believe it or not why so many of you are passionate about it.
I passionate about finding everything out and making a decision.
I have followed the Caylee Anthony case from the beginning, like so many others. All the evidence points to Casey being, at the very least, involved in her daughter’s murder.
There is something that I find very unfair about the case, though, which is the treatment of George and Cindy Anthony. They have been called awful, awful things because of the way that they will try to defend their daughter to the death (no pun intended). I’m annoyed by Cindy in particular, but I can at least manage to see things from their points of view.
People, please listen to me for just one moment. We all have our ways of coping. For Cindy and George (especially Cindy), it’s just more than they can handle to believe that their daughter killed her child. They raised both of the girls, and it’s too horrible for their minds to accept. They’ve already lost Caylee – how can they stand to lost Casey as well? There is no parent that can hate their child, regardless of what that person may have done. I’m sure that they have spend many sleepless nights, pondering what they do not dare say aloud – “did my baby really do it? I’ve tried so hard to raise her right, what could I have done so wrong?” Have a little compassion, folks. You don’t have to agree with and support the Anthony’s in their quest to get their daughter acquitted, but next time think before you post a cruel comment about these people. Their way of coping may be drastically different than yours – you may have disowned Casey and testified for the prosecution without need of a subpoena, but just because they’re different doesn’t make them less human. It can’t be easy to admit that the daughter you have spend more than 20 years with is a sociopath.
Kb I feel the same way when it comes to the parents of…well…less than pure human beings. I for one can admit that if one of my babies grew up and did something horrid…I’d be the first one to sit there and stutter…
Great comment.
I think the Anthony’s have been doing “damage control” long before this. They feel guilty for not getting custody of Caylee because they knew at the very least, a bad accident could happen under Casey’s watch. Cindy stated, “Casey has said half truths, but she is not a murderer”. I think that is their premise for defending her. The evidence points to Casey resenting the child, chloroforming her while she partied, etc., and then, because she never liked the kid anyway, she partied big time after the death. They know she killed her but can’t believe it was deliberate; because Casey has always been an idiot.
KB – I think I understand what you are trying to say about the ants. However, for one thing this blog is a place to share and vent frustrations and disgust with this case along with facts and information. So I’d rather not feel that I can’t express my feelings about these people.
I find absolutely nothing to like or admire about them or to respect them for. They are taking the excuse of “grieving parents/grandparents” way past the limit in my opinion. And that matters for two reasons. One is they could succeed in getting a killer acquitted. (I believe Maggot did it)
And two they are trying to build their future on little Caylee’s bones which I find preposterous (they have no experience worth sharing other than how “NOT” to handle such tragedies) as well as detestable.
So understanding their “different” way of handling their situation is one thing but standing silently by while they attempt to succeed in these other ways would be immoral in my opinion.
I’ve come in at the middle of the conversation about the Aaliyah case so I hope I’m understanding the topics here. First, even though it’s a family court proceeding and perhaps privacy is usually an issue, the problem with this situation is that we aren’t sure the courts, CPS etc are being fair and are following procedures. So this is not a time for people to mind their own business. Unfortunately that would allow any wrong-doing to go uncorrected and continue. It has to come to light now. That’s the only way to be sure Aaliyah is or will be okay.
Butters, I think you said that the father would have to have more money than God to get away with this and I hope that’s true now -now that outsiders are looking into it. But not necessarily. If enough people in Placer County have abused their power or not done their jobs properly they’ll be covering their own behinds for their own sakes. It won’t take money or any interest in protecting the father – they’ll just go into self-defense/cover up mode.
This is why we have a system of checks and balances and why there are agencies with oversight (of judges, lawyers, LE, CPS etc) – to ensure that what does go on – even in private sometimes – can be investigated to assure that the right thing is being done according to the law.
KB – Everyone is so hard on George and Cindy because of them supporting their daughter’s lies! And then repeating them on national TV and expecting everyone else to believe them. I love my daughter unconditionally, but in a case like this I would have tried to get the truth – was it an accident? were you drugging her to get some free time? But to blindly support her and to lie about obvious evidence is an insult to all, and try to blame others on this tragedy goes beyond grief.
Then making money off of this tragedy is another thing people cannot accept. Of course they are making money, they haven’t worked since this happened. Another thing is that people want George and Cindy to break out of their years-in-the-making brain-washing.
I have no sympathy. A grieving grandparent would be showing the media pictures or giving a description of the Nanny that they are claiming took their grandchild. Trying to get justice for that child – – or, if they know Casey did this, staying quiet and praying for the outcome of the trial – not dragging more people in to blame or spewing fabrications that only an idiot would believe. You do have to support your child, but what about that baby? Who does she have to support her?
That is the difference between
a truly grieving grandparent and a grandparent that truly doesn’t care…just wants to make something “positive” out of this murder. They mean something positive for them!! ($$)
A truly grief-stricken grandparent would be looking for the truth – would be visiting the jail and insisting upon the truth without care if the media picks it apart – if casey is innocent they should be searching for clues and following up on any information about the killers – right?
The Auburn Journal has written an article about Connie.
Jan or Simon, how many people in 2 years have been involved in this investigation and have dropped the ball? Judges, CPS, etc. Were the 11 investigations dropped by the same person/persons? If this is a huge “good ole boys” group, how big is it? How much has been raised for an atty. so far thru donations? Is there a ceiling? Just wondering to get a framework on this. Good luck to you in ferreting out all the components!
I live in a small community and it is the last name and the good old boys network that run things. We been here 14 years and are still outsiders but our grandsons have been born and raised here they are the insiders at the whoopping age of 7. Go figure
The Anthonys are stupid, cheating liars. They knew from the get go that child was dead that is why none of them encluding Lee and Casey did not go out hunting for Caylee.
George I think is going to crack, watching him on LK the other night it seemed that he was way to itchy.
I came across this link from someone “supposably in Afghanistan” on the petition site—
http://encyclopediadramatica.com/Save_Aaliyah
And then another person signed the petition…I believe a “Rose” of California. Saying how happy Aaliyah is – how much her father loves her and how all Connie’s accusations are false and made up…
Who is Rose and why are people posting such crazy stuff? It’s beyond me…
Jan/simon, whoever the hell you are. Never in my entire life have I seen such prejudice and self-rightousness before.
This whole American hype in the media, finding someone guilty without a trial goes beyond me. Even your TV shows are biased!
I also love children. I also have a 1-year old. But I cannot fot the life of me find Casey guilty with the info available through the media today. Only a sick person would send Casey off to the gallows without understanding her part of the story.
Who are you? What do you want to achieve through this? Is this a kangaroo justice system?
Dirk, I don’t think you’ve seen all the info. Have you read the sworn statements of witnesses the thousands of pages of documents of evidence, or seen all the videos of interviews with LE and FBI? Why did Maggot NEVER report Caylee missing? Why did she lie to LE from the get-go?
Please remember, we are not on the jury and those 12 people are the ones who will decide based on the evidence presented at trial.
Meanwhile we are entitled to our opinions!
That’s what a blog is for!
Dirk, hopefully you don’t live in Florida.
hi everyone, haven’t been on in awhile,i understand that c and g want to stick up for casey, but what about caylee, they keep saying missing when they talk about caylee, caylee is not missing anymore she is dead, murdered,by the person they are sticking up for, they are as sick as casey is,may they burn in hell with their daughter for not sticking up for their innocence babygirl CAYLEE
dirk some of the media hype was caused by cindy and george themselves, and their insane statements, which when they get on stand will prove they are liars to like their daughter, they where under oath and couldn’t tell the truth, and that is going to get them in hot water at trial
O would like to add that I tried to post a comment on the Auburn Journal and used two different names and e-mail address’s, I guess it was my I.P address?
