The Cordoba Project plans to construct a 13-story mosque and community center about 2 blocks from where the Twin Towers once stood. I’m not in favor of this idea. I don’t like to let emotions rule my political judgment but the events of 9/11 still sting. I was close to the World Trade Center when […]

There is a minor kerfuffle in the right wing blogs about Michael Bellesiles being caught publishing fiction as truth. The right wing has it in for Bellesiles, since he once faked data on gun ownership in early America, trying to prove no one owned guns then (and ergo the second amendment was meant to refer […]

A couple weeks ago, I ran across a strange story about Zimbabwe: a couple of known terrorists were caught crossing the border from Zimbabwe into South Africa at Beitbridge. 33 year-old Imran Muhammad…was arrested last Sunday while trying to get through Beitbridge border post to South Africa on what officials believe was a fake Kenyan […]

Recently at an RNC fundraiser in Noank, CT, Republican National Committee Chair Michael Steele made comments regarding Afghanistan that have caused members within the Republican Party to call for his resignation as committee chair. In addition, the cited statement has been interpreted to mean that Steele is both against the war in Afghanistan and that […]

Since I started blogging back in 2004, one the topics I’ve covered pretty extensively is the abuse and neglect of children. I’ve covered topics where I thought children were exploited in our consumer culture, children were abused or neglected by their parents or stories in which parenting is supplanted by the government. I rarely touch […]

Even Eric Holder and his crew have been unable to justify a reason to fight it. That’s why they are sitting on it, claiming that they are going to go slowly in order to mull it over. As near as many of us can tell, they are sitting on it until the law takes effect in the hopes of catching an Arizona police officer attempting to use it to commit a crime.

As we begin to edge closer to the midterm elections this fall, an obvious pattern is beginning to develop. Anti-incumbent sentiment is at an all-time high, and rightfully so. Unfortunately, it seems that when the people of our nation are dissatisfied with the party holding power, they tend to go to extremes in the other […]

Miranda Rights warnings…they are all the news this week, as Attorney General Eric Holder stated on the weekend Obama administration propaganda shows that he is open to modifying when the warnings are required. The question seems to be centered around these questions: A) Should we give foreign terrorists a Miranda Warning? B) Should we give […]

If you follow the British news, you might have noticed an ongoing scandal about Scotland releasing the mastermind of the Lockerbie bombing (the bomb at Christmas time of 1988Â that destroyed Pan Am 103 and took the lives of 270 people). Abdelbaset Ali al-Megrahi was released last August at Libya’s request because he was terminally […]

In Psychiatry, there used to be something called a Rorschach test.. where they show you ink blots and ask you what they look like. The idea is that one would “project” one’s ideas and worries into the object, and you could get an idea what was on their mind. Sort of the equivalent in religious […]

By Jefferson Flanders Was it a “low, dishonest decade”? That’s been a popular Anglo-American media meme adopted by writers commenting on the past ten years. The phrase comes from W.H Auden’s poem “September 1, 1939†(“As the clever hopes expire/Of a low dishonest decadeâ€) and it was recycled by a number of commentators on both […]

Pacifism –noun 1. Opposition to war or violence of any kind. 2. Refusal to engage in military activity because of one’s principles or beliefs. 3. The principle or policy that all differences among nations should be adjusted without recourse to war. In my post yesterday I mentioned that a so-called conservative friend on my facebook […]

In my daily attempt to shed light on the liberal’s statist agenda that seeks to convert our fine republic into a socialist doormat for the world, I come across a great many characters with quite a few interesting viewpoints. Throughout 2009, as President Obama and the liberal congress made it increasingly obvious that the oath […]

Way back in 2001, letters containing powdered anthrax were sent to a bunch of news reporters and Congressmen, and because the powder was so fine several innocent people, mainly those who worked in the Post Office, died from the infection. Despite initial worries that it was terrorism, later reports assured the American people that it […]

I am fascinated by what the US blogs are calling “Climategate”. It seems that one of the main scientific research labs behind Global warming, indeed the one whose data was one of the lynchpins proving “climate change” was occuring, manmade, and severe, had their emails hacked and put on line. When the emails were taken […]

By Jefferson Flanders The mainstream media has now declared the conflict in Afghanistan to be “Mr. Obama’s War.” Barack Obama’s Dec. 1st West Point speech escalating the war through a surge of 30,000 American troops—following the 21,000 soldiers and Marines he dispatched earlier in the year—means, as CNN’s Gloria Borger noted, that Obama “owns the […]

President Obama once again waxed eloquent this week at West Point– he is one hell of a good orator, I’ll give him that! (Text of speech HERE.)
