The laptops for third world students initiative is now getting started.
Actually, the price of these laptops, which are simplified laptops made rugged so they can be used in third world countries, now are priced at about two hundred dollars a piece, but now if you buy one for the child in your life, the organization will donate another in your name
Between November 12 and November 26, OLPC is offering a Give One Get One program in North America. This is the first time the revolutionary XO laptop has been made available to the general public. For a donation of $399, one XO laptop will be sent to empower a child in a developing nation and one will be sent to the child in your life in recognition of your contribution. $200 of your donation is tax-deductible…
and as a bonus, T Mobile hotspot will give you a free year of internet access…
The laptops are rugged, small, and can be powered by foot or other ways for villages with irregular or no electrical connections. It can also be recharged by a car battery.
It uses a flash type memory drive instead of the hard drive which always is prone to crash or be destroyed by power surges.
So for geeks, you might want to look into this as a holiday gift from you or your gift.

Anybody home?
Hi Novalis
I was reading some posts from the Caylee Anthony case. The case is very complex to say the least.
Wonder why my posts are posting then being deleted?
Anyway, Nancy your article was great.
My other interests are politics.
I am hoping the economy will turn around soon. I feel such sorrow for the seniors who must chose prescription medications over food.
I stop back in a few.
Hi Giorgigirl
I agree. If our taxes are going to bail out somebody I’d rather it be seniors with medication than bank presidents or car execs that fly private jets to DC.
I’m also interested in the Anthony Case.
This bit with Cindy being looked at for obstruction charges is interesting.
I also find this fascinating. The normal human loses about 100 hairs per day – I have no idea if the fall out rate is the same for a dead body, but I can’t imagine it would be less.
If that child was in the trunk for two days, why did investigators find only ONE hair with a death band? Sounds like CA had the Dirt Devil out for a while.
It just reminds me of how clean Scott Peterson’s kitchen was, smelling of lots of bleach…
I did read about Mrs. Anthony concealing evidence from the police. That is grounds for obstruction of justice.
I believe that Casey most likely took the car to the same car wash that she took her boyfriend’s car too. I’m sure she did some cleaning with those industrial vacs.
Their is a obstruction of justice statue that would apply to Mrs Anthony if it is proven she intentionally deceived the police.
Oh, that’s certainly a point. Forgot about the car wash.
I’ll bet LA was over there a lot faster than GA would admit. Didn’t they pick up the car mid-afternoon from Johnsons? That would leave about 3 or 4 hours to scour that thing before CA got ahold of KC.
What if she left the body in the trunk and it was in a bag or something that the towing guy did not notice? He saw that pizza bag and threw it over the fence, but she could have still been there, or maybe in the wheel well still. If KC had left her purse in the car, she might have wanted to simply stage a murder/kidnapping of both herself and Caylee.
I assume she will need a new attorney to represent her if the FBI proceeds with filing charges against her. Sadly, her credibilty will be ruined if it is proven she did in fact obstruct justice.
Sorry for the initials – a lot of sites, like websleuths use Anthony initials when speaking about individual family members.
There are so many twists in this case that I would leave no stone unturned.
Initials are fine with me.
Somebody somewhere posted they did not think the grandparents would be charged in case it might elicit sympathy for the family. But if Caylee’s body is not found and the prosecution feels they need that, then I think they should.
I think the Anthonys have done enough on their own to eliminate an outpouring of public sympathy.
If that’s the case, it may be why their current attorney bailed so quickly. Maybe Baez has a brother….
I believe the child’s body was gone from the car when she left it at Amscot.
Actually, if KC wanted to stage a murder/kidnapping (she was kidnapped, the baby stuffed in the trunk) – she would not have had to bother with a car wash. She left her purse in the car (and keys according to GA)and all kinds of other nasty evidence like her stained slacks. Perhaps she thought the car would be stolen, even smelling as it did, or just reported to the police instead of sitting for several weeks at an impound lot.
Obstruction of justice has no “free passes” CA should be treated just like any other citizen. I think if Mrs Anthony is guilty and not charged there will be demands for justice.
Quite a few people are speculating that the Ant family may have found the body themselves and covered it up.
When they pulled in the garage and CA first said to GA, “it’s the pizza, right?” they may not have looked in the wheel well yet.
Maybe that’s what GA had LA do while CA was out tracking down KC. And CA found out and said to GA when he returned “We’ve lost her!”
I don’t know – this thing gives me fits trying to work it all out so it makes any sense.
It would explain a cool theory I read about them hiding the body until the house search was over and then re-landscaping by burying her under a tree in the backyard.
Yes, no one leaves their purse and keys in their car by accident. Her actions were intentional, and she was hoping someone would steal her car. Sadly, the smell of decomposition kept any thieves away from that car.
Well George did say when he was at the towing yard he asked the towing yard owner to stand beside him when he opened the trunk. The towing yard owner thought the bag was creating the smell, but George said he saw a baseball size stain in the trunk and he even said he got very close to the stain and smelled deomposition.
Casey should have driven the car into a lake because the car holds the evidence against her.
I have been ranting about that from day one. It’s so obvious CA and GA were covering up and throwing out red herrings (in the form of “red flags”) to LE and FBI.
Hmmm, I wonder if we could prove if GA actually did go into work that night – as late as he was for his shift, it would seem he would not bother – after several hours he would have been replaced already. He might have been putting something into a cooler in the garage while CA was in the house frantically looking through KC’s papers to find numbers to call. Then he told CA he was going in to work. He could have taken care of his end of the “evidence” tampering at that point, and then called LA to make sure CA was okay when she got hysterical.
Several people on other sites have mentioned he was on Boggy Creek road a few times during that week. Just a thought….
Anything is possible. I have always felt George is a key player to this crime.
Yes – and that car has its wheel well right in the center of the trunk. If that’s where the stain was, it might have been where KC had originally put her, then moved her into the wheel well afterward.
I have always thought that GA had the most suspicious answers – too rehearsed and contrived – of the whole family. And that the reason he was so sad was because he had had to clean up the real evidence while his wife just had to clean up superficial stuff and her daughter’s reputation. He is so much more conflicted than she is about it. And it is clear that he feels he owes CA for something or other.
Casey just isnt’t smart enough to pull this off alone, but a former homicide detective would be the ideal partner in crime.
If that’s the way it went down, I’m sure CA had already blamed the entire thing on him – and more than once . The fact that he had ruined the family financially and they had almost gotten divorced over it (or other things) – was probably her excuse for everything KC did – she was such a “good girl” up to that point.
Testifying against his daughter in front of the grand jury would be a smart move, because it would contradict the real truth. He was creating a smoke screen for the public when in fact he was actually helping his daughter.
How was he helping his daughter?
Yep, I’m thinking she was really careless and CA just told him to clean it up.
A lot of other stuff about his story doesn’t make sense. Like not noticing the smell on the 24th. If that’s the way it happened. Probably made him suspicious then.
Or he may have told it that way to remove suspicion. It all may have happened, but she ran to the car ahead of him and threw the gas cans at him and jumped in the car and took off before he even got close to the car. The fact that he said he WAS close behind her, and in one account even looked in the trunk, might have been his way of covering for her – as if to say, if there had been a body in that trunk then I would have smelled it, so it had to have been placed there later – and I did admit that I smelled one, but it was after the car was towed not before.
You just gave me an idea. Suppose Cindy did know that Caylee’s body was in that trunk, and SHE was the one that told George to clean up the evidence. Cindy seems to be the boss in that family.
I think he was helping his daughter by appearing to be a reluctant but “honest” witness – by divulging things that were either obvious or easily verifiable and that implicated her in small crimes but not murder one.
He is the one, more than any other, who was disguising lies by wrapping them in portions of the truth.
I think he had the towing guy look in the trunk as to a witness that the body wasn’t there.
Lucky
Saying negative things to the grand jury and his actions are the exact opposite.
I think the Anthonys knew the baby was dead before they ever went for the car.
That could very well be true. She might have said “We lost her!” far earlier.
It does not, however, explain her 911 call where she gets frantic about how the car smells like death. I think if she had known for sure that baby was in the trunk she would have just taken her home and choked her to death.
GA might have thought that by eliminating the evidence before CA actually knew it was all there, that he was protecting her. Since he testified at the GJ, and he was the only one who knew the truth, he was in control of the situation.
CA aggressively manipulates her interviews with LE and FBI, but GA does it as well, only a tad more subtly.
I also think they knew the body wasn’t in the trunk.
Lucky
The towing guy never said he looked in the wheel well.
I think the whole thing has been a “play” the whole time. I also think tat casey had planned to kill her parents. Why did amy have her mail forwarded to the Anthony’s house? She was ready to move in.
Good point Novalis Cindy couldn’t have known anything prior to the 911 calls.
lucky, that could be very true. When he said to FBI “I’m doing this the wrong way” and described gertting out of the front seat and taking the tow guy to open the trunk as a witness, that may have been what he was up to.
Or maybe he was just hoping that there was not a body in the trunk because then he would have to call LE on the spot.
You can’t see the wheel well by just standing upright – looking?
Unless Cindy was just playing her part in the “play” had to call le sometime??????
Casey told Amy that her parents were moving into a condo and she was getting their home. So, I can understand why she changed her addresss to the Hopespring Drive address.
Lucky – I’ve wondered that myself. Maybe KC thought she had gotten by with doing in the baby and the next step was Mommy and Daddy. Maybe that’s what that big old batch of chloroform was for.
She had given Amy the address and had things forwarded, but I don’t recall she said that the deal of her moving in was entirely off. In fact, she was telling some of her new friends that she was already living there.
these people had 31 days to plan this all out
Lucky – I looked at a pic of the wheel well for her type of car and its a circular pit in the center of the trunk with a round cover on it that is flush with the rest of the floor. You open it up and the wheel is buried underneath.
Lucky, So are you saying the entire family was involved in Caylee’s death?
casey told Amy that her parents were getting a divorce and her mother was moving into a condo. thats what i remember?
I don’t think they killed the child. I think that they are in cover up——big time. But I think they had 31 days to cover up. I can see Casey throwing it in her parents face that she killed the child—–now what the hell u going to do about it——type of thing
I think the only real emotion I heard in CA’s voice was when she made that last 911 call. She sounded absolutely frantic.
The other ones were made in front of her daughter to get her to cough up where that baby was. When KC wasn’t telling, she flipped and probably figured it out, but did not have enough presence of mind to hide it.
She tells the FBI that she is normally calm and organized but that on those calls she was just saying what she needed to say to get results. Right….
There are more and more things coming out now. It is spooky. Little bits and pieces
Lucky, I really think if they had known all along and had planned it, they would have tracked her down much earlier than they did and not let her spend a month partying and blabbing different stories to half of creation.
If they had known exactly when the baby died, they would have never let her leave that house and would have come up with something a lot less lame than Zenaida Gonzales.
Their actions to me are more like a hasty cover-up after the fact (ie: after the car surfaced) than a well-planned cover-up from Day One.
I think the George and Cindy may lose their support from Kidfinders if this obstruction of justice charge moves forward.
LOL Sounds good to me. My mind gets carried away at times.
I wouldn’t be surprised if Cindy gets admitted to the hospital just for more public sympathy.
I thought the Kidfinders would move on after that news thing with the leader. But they are still in there.
And Lucky, their stories got more polished after the next month went by.
The first interviews with LE and FBI after she was in jail were all about how they thought something bad had happened, they wanted it to be a kidnapping and trying to implicate all her friends and mysterious drug dealers.
Later on, they dump that idea and just go along with saying she’s alive out there somewhere – TX, GA, PR – and they don’t have any idea who could have kidnapped her. They knew by listening to NG every night that most people just thought they were in “denial”. They played on that denial card big time ever since. The reason they feel “ambushed” by those tapes is that it shows how confused and doubtful they were at the beginning – and it contrasts with their confidence Caylee is alive that they have slowly constructed ever since.
that would be a smart move for Cindy to go to the hospital. For her own sake she needs to shut up.
NOV—–that is so very true
Yeah Georgi, KFN can’t afford any more bad publicity.
Although I’m surprised that Cindy hasn’t gotten into a knock-down drag out fight with Michelle Bart yet. Her tolerance level is very low and her sense of importance is very high.
Thank God Michelle is a PR person and not a lawyer – I think Nejame had to quit – it was getting difficult for him to claim ignorance.
I loved that line that Padilla said yesterday on NG about how CA said in front of Tracy, the bondswoman, that she (CA) regretted not giving the FBI the dogs’ toothbrushes! LMAO!
GG – you are right about the hospital. She is literally foaming at the mouth and her eyes are so glazed over it’s not funny. She looks like a bomb getting ready to explode!
Jose lost pretty much all of those motions he filed with the court. I watched the video of his court apperance and found him to be rather rough around the edges. His approach was very unprofessional to say the least. He feels if he talks loud and screams I’m being robbed by the state of Florida he will somehow seem powerful and in control, but it just proves to me he is all bark and no bite.
I’ll be the administrators of this blogsite are wondering why all this traffic is showing up at an old article. LMAO!
I read them all and look for ones with comments to see if there are interesting people. Not very many have comments at all. And a lot of the articles are not written very well.
Novalis That remark about the dog tooth brushes speaks volumes.
If anyone in FL is being robbed, it is taxpayers who have to pay for that brat being in jail while she and her family waste resources sending LE on wild goose chases and make DA personnel have to waste their time in court hiring experts to testify to things that should have been confessed.
GG – I think it’s right up there with “They haven’t even found the clothes yet!”
Novalis
Yes I felt the same way. I read practically every article on this site, and the only blog that is really blogging is the Caylee Anthony case. There are too many people in there, and I prefer a smaller group discussion.
Whoa – big news I guess. Got this from another blog
Nov. 26, 2008, 11:11AMShare
Print Email Del.icio.usDiggTechnoratiYahoo! BuzzORLANDO, Fla. — Court documents show “neck breaking” and “household weapons” were some of the Google searches performed on a computer accessible to the mother of a missing Florida 3-year-old.
The description of the searches was included in more than 700 pages of court documents released in the case this week.
The Orlando Sentinel reports that the searches also included “how to make chloraform” and took place in March. Someone also used the computer in March to search for peroxide, acetone, alcohol and “lost numbers.”
__________________
Okay – that lets us know how early the chloroform searches were. But neck-breaking and household weapons??? Whoa! I don’t think that girl was anywhere near done with her plans. If she had an accomplice it was her Menendez Bro – Lee.
GG – I agree. But what I find most unpleasant in that place is all the politics and defensive hyper-ventilating.
I think those searches were for her parents death
March was the month the Puerto Rico trip was being planned by Amy and her friends. Casey said she was going, but her mother wouldn’t watch Caylee. The timeline of the search make sense.
Neck Breaking..how sad
Household weapons???????
Bingo! Lucky I am thinking that may have been why she was spreading stories of her parents “moving out” soon.
Maybe she was counting on her brother to help her with that part? Maybe that’s why he is laying so low? Doesn’t wanna get his sis mad at him enough to implicate him in the Big Picture.
I think she killed the child before she could finish the murder of her parents. If she got so mad at the baby and slipped and killed her then she couldnt finish her plans to kill the parents
I agree the parents lives were in danger.
Well, at the very least that definitely catapults the whole thing into the realm of “pre-meditated”. No wonder the state wants to go for Murder One even with no body.
It sounds to me like she was planning on doing her entire family in and just hadn’t had the opportune moment yet what with all the partying and trips to Target.
I can see her getting so made at that baby and chocking her to death then like her plans had to change. Is that “can’t see past her nose” thing
Or maybe she was waiting to coordinate with her brother.
It might have been a bit too soon for that “high-five” Kodak moment.
Household weapons-well that could be anything, right? Does she mean steask knives, etc.
You know, maybe the original plan was to have Caylee “kidnapped” and then make it look like her parents went Puerto Rico or somewhere else to look for her and “disappear”.
Maybe “timer55” has a meaning nobody has figured out because it has nothing to do with Caylee.
Novalis Please explain “timer 55”
GG – I don’t know. It could involved cutlery, but also things like getting shocked by a toaster.
Who would google shit like that???
I hesitate to even look it up to see what one could find. Someone on websleuths the other day said that they feel sorry for their family if anything happens to them and LE takes a look at their computer. This case has put us all on the wackiest websites just trailing behind that girl!
Novalis
well that is just an awful thing to think about. Shocking people to death with a toaster? What about throwing an electric hair dryer in the shower or bath tub or a plug in radio? The possibilities are endless with regard to household weapons. I mean you could pick up a chair and hit someone over the head for goodness sake.
For weapon consideration always have a couple of beautiful items you can use as a club. Candle holders, tall vases, statues or even pictures and very heavy bowls or ashtrays. Grab it as you go by or if it is close to you. While on the move make your plan quickly. Once the intruder sees you grab something he is going to be ready for you to swing at his head. So make sure you pick a different target the first time you swing. Duck and swing at the groin, knees or top of foot. You can also turn and run straight at the attacker with the object held close to your body and when you are close enough bring it straight up to the underside of his chin. Do NOT hit yourself by accident.
There are some from this site:
associatedcontent.com/article/619833/how_to_use_common_household_items_as.html?page=2&cat=6
GG – you’re right. I mean WHO would look up stupid things like that? Maybe she was looking for something untraceable or that looked like an accident. Well she should have googled castor beans….
The only reason I said toaster is I remember a creepy movie where a woman spilled milk on the floor and electrocted herself by reaching over and grabbing the toaster. It was so horrible to me because it was so innocent and unexpected and right in the middle of breakfast conversation.
Well, duuuuuuh…… Why would you have to look that up? Doesnt she have any common sinse?
Lucky – thanx for the self defense tips. Always good to remember. (sounds like you taught that course!)
I keep a large club by my bed made out of telephone cable (about 3″ thick) that has a bicycle hand grip on the end. It has a longer reach than a baseball bat and doesn’t break or leave a mark because it’s metal wrapped with rubber (don’t want the perp to sue me for attacking him).
I have a few old kung fu tricks that involve pressure points but I’m too old to rely on those. Of course it all goes out the window if they have a gun.
Lucky
I think I will take a guess and say you are a police officer or and actor.
My contact lens fell out because your last post made me laugh and then my eyes started tearing up.
Lucky – you put it best when you said she didn’t think very far ahead.
Someone that dumb would also erase hundreds of pics of their daughter off their facebook or myspace right afterwards too.
GG – LMFAO!
I copied and pasted the first par. at that site. Just shows where her mind was, looking that crap up.
Oh my milk in the floor… I have done that before. I better be careful
GG yes I am a cop, in a backwards sort of way
Oh, I guess the weapons search was for things made out of “household products”.
Guess she wanted to use what was under the sink!
Lucky
I thought so.
Writing a little recipe book, was she?
Oh I get it Novalis-Like Arsenic and Old Lace
Of course she could have always claimed it was for her “Nanny Detective” novel she was writing, if all that danged chloroform hadn’t been all over the inside of the trunk…
A recipe book of how to kill people. If she was so unhappy she should have just killed herself.
GG – LMAO! That girl DID love to cook for people…
I wonder if she killed before?
I think when she was unhappy she blamed other people for causing it. Her idea of being positive and proactive about achieve la “Bella Vita” was to eliminate all obstacles to her happiness.
Kinda like her mom does, but in a more literal way.
Would have been better for the whole world if she had just “offed” herself
Maybe she killed the jogger for practice.
GG – I don’t think so – she led a very sheltered and coddled life – she could do what she want and steal what she wanted.
But when she started getting out in the world and having fun with her new friends, the people who had been her buffer from responsibility became her biggest threat and she just decided to get rid of them.
I don’t think she would have taken on someone that big and capable of defending herself. But I do think it might have given her the idea for how to blame someone else for Caylee. She made a deal of mentioning to Jesse that her mom told her to stay away from the park.
Could be though – did they ever figure out how that girl was killed?
ooooooh – what if she and her brother were a team? Natural Born Killers was a favorite movie on her website…
Novalis
Just when you think you figured out the case another piece gets thrown into the puzzle.
and I will NEVER forget how Lee laughed when he described to LE how bad that car smelled. Even if it wasn’t Caylee – it was another human being. That has GOT to make someone talk about it in a serious way.
GG – well, this family is so diabolical and shifty – it makes our imaginations go all over the place! You can’t trust a thing any of them say.
Who could blame us for speculating??
I have to go run some errands, but I will check back in with you fine folks later!
This was fun!
I did hear Lee laugh about the smell in the car. I thought that was demonic.
OK me too
bye nov
bye gg.
OMG! I am reading through the new released pages – they are TERRIBLE – very small italic print. But one part regards a second interview with Jesse.
He relates the conversation he had with Lee where Lee told him Cindy had confided in him about the choking incident.
Various pages are missing after this. Then on the next page it says:
“Jesse also mentioned that in September of 2005, Casey had told him she didn’t feel comfortable around her XXXXXXXXX (blacked out word – at least six letters i’d say). Casey allegedly told him that before this day, XXXX (short word blacked out) had tried to have sex with her. Jesse didn’t ask her to elaborate, but from the context of the conversation, he believed that Casey meant XXXX had tried to pressure Casey into having sexual intercourse with her (refer to transcript pages 4-5).
Hmmmm – awfully short name blacked out. Could it be LEE???? She calls whoever it is her _______ – making it look like a family name.
Novalis, Maybe Lee or Cindy’s brother.
Cindy’s brother believes Casey killed Caylee, so if there was incest in that family I would guess the uncle is Caylee’s father. I bet he gave Casey money, and we all know what she does for a buck.
Jose Baez has won the gag order motion. It really is a brilliant move by the prosecution when the change of venue motion goes before the court. Jose can now talk, and talk, and talk about his client, and the media gets to dispute all of lies. The prosecution was very clever asking for a gag order, knowing full well it would be denied based on Judge Strickland’s earlier decision about siding on the side of the First Amendement everytime.
Jose Baez spends to much time fighting with the prosecution over his motions. He needs to deflate his ego, and examine the discovery thaat has beeen turned over to him by the prosecution. I guaranteed you he will ask for a continuance.
I’ll stop back later. In case I get busy I wish everyone a Happy Thanksgiving.
Novalis,
Have you ever blogged at momslogic?
Hi GG – god, I am up to my neck in the new docs they released. In part 4 there is supposed to be something about KC telling her mom that Lee fondled her in middle school.
Then the stuff from above where it looks like it’s referring to “her brother” – the name is too short to be anyone else.
No I haven’t blogged there. What is it – can you post a link? Do you have to be a mom??
I am sure that Nancy Grace is in turbo drive tonight. This will probably affect her special for Friday.
There is also an article on http://www.momslogic.com/2008/11/casey_anthony
I’m gping to watch the Nancy Grace program then I’ll stop back
Thanks for posting that – I’ll take a look.
I’ve also got a little dinner on so I’ll be back when I’ve finished.
Did you go check this out?
primewriter.com/blog/?p=265
See you later.
Hmmm – I couldn’t get that link to work but did manage to get onto the site.
It had some articles about the case – wow in a couple of them the women did not but bash people who might be clueless enough to sympathize with single mothers.
Of course I feel very emotional about aspects of the case but my key interest is trying to understand and solve the crime involved, not to compare myself with this woman and what she did or did not do.
I guess I lean toward the CSI version of the Anthony Case and not the Lifetime Channel version. Does that make sense?
HAPPY THANKSGIVING.
Was reading the new docs. I didn’t know that Casey called Jessie on the 25th of June (Wednesday) and he was “down” about a job and she told him she would spend the weekend with him. They spent the weekend on the beach.
