This came in from TJ Hart this morning, but before everyone jumps to any conclusions, this has nothing to do with missing Haleigh Cummings – Simon
A 17-month-old Putnam County boy who was reported missing by his mother was been found dead in a nearby pond Wednesday night.
According to the Putnam County Sheriff’s Office, the 17-month-old boy was reported missing from his family’s home at 846 Cousintown Road at 6:18 p.m. The child’s mother told officials he had been playing in the yard and was missing for about 20 minutes before deputies were called.
The Putnam County Sheriff’s Office Dive Team was called in to search a small pond.
At approximately 9:40 pm, Dive Team members located the 17 month old child. The child’s body was recovered from a pond located on the property, and pronounced deceased at the scene.
Sheriff Hardy has assigned detectives from the Major Crimes Unit to investigate the incident.

Follow-up comment rss or Leave a TrackbackPerhaps it should be noted that PCSO investigators are saying this appears to have been a terrible accident. News4jax.com is reporting that DCF is investigating the child’s drowning.
My guess is there will be charges filed in this case. A 17 month old baby playing alone or without an adult right there with him, especially in close proximity to water in Fl will bring much scrunity from LE. IMO
This is very sad news. The main point is you do not leave a child that young unattended to play alone outside, especially with a pond in the yard. I am sure this was a terrible accident, but one that could have been prevented. Prayers to the family of this little boy.
I just cryed while listening to the scanner while they were searching.Waiting like some of you were doing.I knew in my heart it was not going to be good.Little ones are so quick.Like a flash of lightning ,they can be gone. That poor mother, she will always have guilt.wondering if she had done something different. But i pray Jesus sends her peace that surpasses all understanding. An surounds her in his love. For all who loves this little tot,it will be hard on them.Looking for his little face eveyday.Remembering little things that made him special.Remembering when she carried,an delivered him.OH my such a sad,sad time for that family.
Such a beautiful little child. Now with Jesus an all the other little ones.He had almost white hair like the little one we lost,it touched me when i saw the picture. My breath left me for a moment at the likness. Please people dont be to hard on this mother,it happens. An has happeed to the best of mother wo love there babies.Losing sight of our little ones ,at one time,or another. So i would at least wait to find out about the investigation before i passed any hard OP on her.It was just a sad accident im sure. She will live with this the rest of her life,an feel the guilt.Thats pnishment alone, for a few seconds of carelessness. It could have happened to any of us when raising ours.
I agree Jan. Looking for someone to blame won’t bring him back and anyone that has had children knows how fast a little one can disappear. If DCF is looking into it, they better have a good reason. Jail would be nothing compared the the hell she will live with the rest of her life and if it was an accident-WHY make it worse for her and the rest of her family?
How awful. 🙁
