A man that had just been put on the FBI’s Top 10 Most Wanted List, Adam Mayes was found in a wooded area a few miles from his home in Union County, Mississippi. The girls, who Mayes had allegedly kidnapped were also found alive and well, unharmed.

Jo Ann Bain and her 14 year old daughter, Adrienne Bain were found dead buried in Bain’s mother’s back yard in Guntown Mississippi, but Mayes took off with Bain’s two youngest daughters, Alexandria Bain, 12 and Kyliyah Bain, 8. Reports are that Mayes killed the mother and daughter so he could take the two youngest girls with him. He supposedly believed that after having an affair with Jo Ann that the two young girls were actually his children.

Although the girls seemed fine when they were found, they were taken to a hospital in Gunstown as a precaution for examination. Preliminary reports say that Mayes shot himself in the head and was treated in an ambulance just after the shooting on the way to a hospital around 7 pm Thursday night where he was later pronounced dead.

Mayes’s wife, Teresa and mother, Mary Frances had both been arrested once authorities began gathering facts about the missing kids case. According to the records, Teresa Mayes claims she saw her husband kill Jo Ann Bain in the garage of Bain’s home in Tennessee and then he killed Adrienne Bain inside the same home. She told the authorities that she drove Mayes, the two dead bodies and the two girls to Mississippi where Adam buried the two bodies in his mother’s back yard.

Josie Tate, Teresa’s mother, told the police that her daughter and Mayes fought a lot over his obsession with the two girls and that he did claim the two were his daughters. A neighbor and friend of Mayes said Adam made them all think he was the father of the two.

Teresa Mayes has been charged with  two counts of first degree murder and two counts of especially aggravated kidnapping. Mary Frances is charged with four counts of conspiracy to commit aggravated kidnapping. The District Attorney General Mike Dunavant said that even though the suspect is dead, they still intend to move forward on the case with the evidence they have. “In addition to anyone else who is found to have participated in these homicides and this kidnapping. We’ll move forward with that evidence and we want to thank and commend the good work of all of these agencies.”

He said the girls will be their key witnesses. “Our focus is that they receive specialized care and treatment they need at this time. Later on, they will be considered material witnesses in this case, they are victims and will be treated with ultimate care, dignity and respect.”

The main thing needed here was for the two young girls to be found before any harm came to them. My prayers have been answered that they were found unharmed. I imagine they have both been terrified during this whole ordeal, but I pray that neither have permanent damage that will prevent them from picking up the pieces and go on with their lives in a normal fashion.

Alexandria and Kyliyah have been through enough trauma now. May God watch over each of them as they try to put their lives back to normal.
