The legal profession is not one that I understand or trust. To us mere mortals much of what happens in the court room is strange at best, and right out of ‘Twilight Zone’ at worst.

A German lawyer is pushing the envelope even further. Obviously he was not content with ambulance chasing, medical malpractice, and representing people who bought coffee that was too hot and spilled it on themselves.

Jens Lorek from Dresden has “raised the bar”

In German law if you are kidnapped you can sue for damages, if the perp is not available, you can sue the government (presumably for not keeping the country safe).

Jens plan is to represent clients who have been abducted by aliens and get compensation for them (no doubt taking 40% for fees).

“There’s quite obviously demand for legal advice here,” Jens Lorek told Reuters by telephone on Thursday. “The trouble is, people are afraid of making fools of themselves in court.”

So far Jens has not won any cases of Doe v Alien, but obviously this is a man on the move!
