screen-shot-2016-11-21-at-13-02-31On Saturday, I purchased a 6.5FT Fir tree from a Tesco Store in the UK, located in Highwoods, Colchester. Tesco is the largest supermarket chain in Britain. Our equivalent of Walmart.

By Monday morning, less than 48 hours later, the price of the same tree had fallen by £20 (about $25).

Over the weekend, our grandchildren had spent hours decorating the tree.

I phoned Tesco on a central number 0345 677 9188 at 10.45 this morning and asked if we would have to remove all the decorations, dismantle the tree, repack it in its box and return it to the store to obtain a refund and then purchase the same item at the lower price. Or, could all of this annoying time-consuming hassle be avoided?

The person I spoke to by the name of John, who steadfastly refused to give me his surname, phoned the relevant store and indicated that this was indeed the only solution – involving hours of work, use of transport, fuel etc., or accept that we are the losers to the tune of £20.

Is this the way to spread Christmas cheer?
