Torrington, Alberta with a population of less than 200 is probably not on most peoples list of neat places to visit. Torrington does boast one world record though, it is the home of the only Gopher museum in existence. Blogger News Network sent cub reporter Laura (aka my daughter) to investigate!

Torrington is about an hour north east of Calgary, the museum is not hard to find, once you get to Torrington, the hard part is finding Torrington itself, if you blink you will miss it. The museum has been around since 1996, it was completely unknown until PETA (People for the Ethical Treatment of Animals) got involved, this increased the ‘radar cross section no end!

The price of admission is very reasonable at $2, this makes it much cheaper than most other museums. To say that it is compact, would be an understatement, it is the size of someone’s living room. You can check out the exhibits twice in under 10 minutes. But don’t be fooled by this, never mind the quantity, it is the quality that counts!

As the saying goes, a picture is worth a thousand words…..
