Much Ado About Nothing

A Syrian-born Canadian telecom Engineer Maher Arar is in news. In the midst of one of the most intense crises America had ever faced - the attack on homeland on 9/11 - Arar was detained in New York on Sept. 26, 2002 under suspicion that he had ties to al Qaeda. After 13 days in detention, American authorities sent Arar to Jordan, and from there to Damascus, where he faced torture in prison.

9/19/06 - it is known to all that it was a mistake. The conservative government faces an onslaught of querries from the opposition on the compensation package to be offered to Arar. The Government admits that a "great injustice" was done to Arar.
