Jan and I want to wish all of our readers a very Merry Christmas. 2011 has been an interesting year, I do hope that everyone has enjoyed reading our articles as much as Jan, myself, and all of our writers have enjoyed creating them.
The title A Merry Christmas To All Our Readers is hardly original. The first time I remember reading it was when I was six or seven years old. It was not a Christmas present for me, but somehow it ended up in my possession. I entered the world of one of the finest cartoonists I can ever recall. Carl Giles (1916-1995) was a man with a mission. He would play with politics, he would play with life, and sometimes just play for fun!
Carl Giles loved Christmas. His Christmas cartoons were always biting and fun.
One of one of Giles favorite characters was known simply as Grandma. Rarely did she speak, yet she spoke volumes. So much so that in Ipswich, England, there is a Grandma statue.
Here are just a couple of my favorite, and timeless cartoons penned by Giles.
What is wrong with Elephant traps for Grandma?
There is a lot more to this cartoon than meets the eye. The date it was drawn should be a good clue.
I guess that the elves had been a little lax on making toys!
Ah the joy of giving!
Grandma speaks!
I have enjoyed the Giles cartoons for many, many years.
Have a happy safe, and wonderful Christmas. Celebrate the fact that life could be worse, Giles’ Grandma could be coming to visit!

I’m a little late for Christmas wishes. However, the New Year is right around the corner. Happy New Year!
