Todays panel consisted of Simon and Jan Barrett, crime writer Denny Griffin, veteran trial lawyer Mannie Barling, journalist (inside the court room) Dave Knechel, and Bail Bondsman William Cobra Staubs.
The trial on First Degree Murder of Casey Anthony began last Tuesday with the prosecution and defense offering their opening thoughts. The prosecution played a very conservative game, over the course of 2 1/2 hours they detailed the direction that they were planning to explain the case. While not water tight, it certainly seems to have a solid base.
The defense responded with what I view as a pretty wild notion. Of course the ‘Lip Flapping’ of attorneys during this phase of a trial is little more than an Op-Ed piece. No proof needs to be produced, and theories can be floated for the Jury to consume. However to NOT deliver on the promises can scuttle any case.
Sequestered Jurors tend to be grumpy Jurors, this particular batch are stuck in a hotel, two hours from home, They are cut off from Newspapers, the Internet, and most TV channels known to man. I have to admit that the ‘lack of TV’ reminded me of a story from the late 1980’s. I was engaged in a huge project for a well known bank. In order to make our product people friendly we brought in a Branch Manager. The hotel was top notch, the expense account was almost limitless, but the damn place did not have QVC on the TV menu.
She took it stoically, but was unhappy. One day after about two months of this imprisonment she walked in with a letter. It was from QVC. She was a frequent shopper and wanted to make sure that she was OK.
My story may be strange, and by no means was this lady sequestered, but when you take people out of their normal surroundings, they do get upset. The moral of the story… if you tell a story about the upcoming trial, you had better make good on your word.
This week the jury got to hear just the very beginnings of the prosecutions case. Taking a leaf out of the TV Soap Opera play book, Saturday left us with a cliff hanger. Cindy Anthony on the stand, the prosecution wringing every last drop of sympathy for this grieving Grand Mother, and the defense mildly letting the story unfold. Unlike other witnesses that we have seen on the stand, the defense was very quiet about objecting to anything. When they do get their shot at Cindy will they go for the jugular as they did with George, or take the soft route? The saying ‘damned if you do, damned if you don’t’ springs to mind.

I’d also like to make a personal observation, as host of the program, my mission is a rather curious one, I ask questions, and let them head in whatever direction they may lead. It was clear from some listeners that they disliked the position put forward by Cobra. It is important to understand that at this stage we are dealing with opinions only. However the scenario put out by Cobra is far more realistic that you can imagine. Who thought OJ would walk away a free man?

Follow-up comment rss or Leave a TrackbackI’ve been watching since day one, as I am very upset with Nancy Grace and others in Law enforcement of any kind. I believe Casey is innocent until proven guilty. Anyone who Cass the first stone should keep their opinions to themselves and let Ms Anthony have her day in court. How can anyone know at this point in the trial what happened. Hell her mom could have been the cause of Caylee’s demise. We know that she fed Caylee and then took her swimming…a no no for cramping in the water, who’s to say that she didn’t do that the next morning? Caylee might have accidently drown and that is how Casey’s father found her so fast, he knew what happened. I also believe he did sexually abuse Casey. I have doubts at this point, Don’t YOU?
No, I have no doubts. Jose Baez’ defense is that Casey is incapable of showing emotion, since she was sexually abused by her father. Well, now that Casey’s neck is on the line, all she does is cry, cry, cry….there goes the defense! No tears when her baby girl is dead, but tears galore when she faces life emprisonment or death. No doubts…
I have a question maybe someone can answer for me,If casey had been telling her parents she had a nanny for caylee for a couple of years, even before all this happen before caylee came of missing, casey got up said she had to work and take caylee with her,if there was never a zanny, who the hell was watching caylee, this was going on for quiet awhile before casey claim the babysitter took her
I listen to your broadcasts every week. I have been a California licensed private investigator for the past 17 years and I have a masters degree. I am commenting because I find Mr. Staubs absolutely dreadful to listen to. His language is heinous and he appears to lack a basic education. Additionally, he often leaves the broadcast for whatever reason and is not available when you call on him, slowing down the process. It would be a much more pleasant broadcast without him. Please consider not including him on future broadcasts. Thank you.
i believed casey killed her daughter in a dissociated state remembering partying drinking nightlife but dont remembered doing it so becaused not only she lied to her family her friends the police everyone around her who at first cared about her now she hurting everyone around her who at first were trying to help her she let herself go deep into the situation finger pointing everyone trying to find fault i dont believe her father sexually abused her if that was true then why would she let him be around her, i do believed she killed caylee becaused she didnt want the responsibility anymore she probably had a fight with her mother telling her it time for her to take care of caylee and stop dropping the responsibility on her parents i consider casey to be a selfish brat who doesnt have any remorse for what she did i do believed that she killed her in a dissociated state dont you think you hurt your family enough if you were straight forward about your daughter death you could have save millions of the states taxes money by stating what really happened you gave the state of florida the run around dont blame your family your friends for your stupidity dissociation is a mental health disorder that should be looked into.you need to be true to yourself becaused you already lost your daughter and believe me i think you lost your family too look what you out your parents thru
darcy we rather you leave ……. YOU ARE RUDE!!! Get your own show!!

It is thought that since Casey wasn’t really going to work, that many of the days she took Caylee with her wherever she decided to hang out. She was also know to take Caylee to parties with her, where friends observed the toddler asleep. Finally, the prosecution’s theory, which I agree with, is that Casey would drug Caylee, either with Chloroform or other narcotics, and leave the child in her car while the mother partied or slept with boyfriends.
The defense keeps trying to show that George Anthony showed no emotion when Cindy hysterically told him that Caylee was missing; but I distinctly remember months ago, before the trial that Leonard Padilla, remember the bounty hunter who initially put up a bond for Casey, was talking about being in the home and that George had to be restrained because he was so angry at Casey for not telling them where Caylee was. I remember Mr. Padilla quoting George as screaming, Where is my grandaughter. Tell me right now! This whole defense is obscene! Those poor grandparents. They both adored that child. Casy Anthony is EVIL!! Like someone who called into Nancy Grace stated, if it was true that George had anything at all to do with a coverup or anything else, Casey would be screaming from the rafters. She would have given up anyone to get out of jail. Anyone that thinks she is innocent needs to wake up and amell the roses.
Hello again, i can’t believe george who worshiped the ground caylee walked on,could have found caylee’s body in the pool and,no trying cpr on her no calling 911 to save his grandbaby wrapped her up with the winnie the pooh put her into three bags and let his grandaughter rot,i can see casey doing it because that woman’s heart is cold as stone, you can see it in her when she is sitting in court,on the 911 calls, jailhouse calls, cold and hateful
I don’t know if anyone saw the court today, when bozo had casey stand up and had cindy look at her, trying to prove a point about casey’s pregnancy for one she was in a skin tight shirt and also if you really observe the way she was standing you can see her intentional way she was trying to suck in her stomach as not to appear bigger in the stomach, bozo makes me sick, she also has bozo believing her lies
