“Avatar is breath taking and heart pumping.â€
The last time James Cameron put his director hat on for a feature film was 13 years ago when he gave us Titanic. Love it or hate it you could not deny the impact that film had. To see it in the theater was unforgettable. This time he again shows that if you are going to do something then make it larger, grander, and more stunning than anything yet seen. AVATAR is a world all its own and possibly one of the better CGI films ever created. It is 40% live action which makes it so much more than another animated adventure. The planet of Pandora contains a world that reminds us why movies are made.
The story revolves around a group of human scientists, who, in order to better understand a distant planets indigenous race, create AVATARS that are a mix of both species’ DNA. The Avatars are controlled remotely by the human hosts. The Us Military also has its sites on the planet but more for a natural resource that is found to be worth billions. When they decide to take the element by force it is up to the Avatars to help save the planets inhabitants. It escalates into an all out war of compassion versus power.
Not since Lord of the Rings have I seen a world of such detail and unique creatures. It is so full of imagination and beauty that when added with the depth of 3-D animation it literally sucks you in and submerges you. The battle sequences are flawless and a perfect balance of nature versus machine. Though close to 3 hours in length it moves so fluidly and is paced so well that you get caught up in everything around you and time flies by. It is so easy to assume what this film is about from the trailer. But until you see it in full you will not be able to grasp all of the depth and emotional journey the characters go through. It will at times take your breath away.
There is a message too about mother earth and how we are all connected in some way by an underlying, unseen force. It does not shine a very positive light on the military mindset and their destructive nature. It is a film that distinctly divides the tree huggers from the NRA lifetime members. But there is a fantasy about it that will hopefully stir those on both sides to think about our planet more and how we not only treat it but our fellow inhabitants, both foreign and domestic. This is not a heavy handed message nor does it play like a public service announcement. It is just another element that causes the movie to be so powerful and moving.
Avatar is rated PG-13 for intense epic battle sequences and warfare, sensuality, language and some smoking. This is a fair rating and though the preteens may enjoy the sites of this planet the language and themes may be a bit much. The expletives, though mild, are rampant throughout. It is also worth mentioning that the indigenous people are just that. And although blue and CGI in creation they wear very little clothing. There is nothing sexual about this but parents need to be aware that it is there. I give Avatar 4.5 out of 5 rites of passage. Avatar has four Golden Globe nominations including Best Motion Picture Drama and best director. Cameron is back with a vengeance and this is one Pandora’s Box that you need to open fully. Follow-up comment rss or Leave a TrackbackI saw the previews and the CGI was ground breaking. I’m not so sure about the storyline.
Going tonight.
Great movie, special effects were out of this world. Very different and would love to see it again…
Movie of the year as far as I’m concerned. As far as most imaginative and powerful computer imaging.
This gave me a huge headache – prepare for hours of 3D by doing this: http://www.tictacdo.com/ttd/Create-3D-Television Also, There’s no action until the end – a huge build-up for nothing. Like Titanic all over again…
What was so great about this film I could not understand. We just cannot be graphic/visual whore..story was such a third-rate crap.
The 3-D effect made me want to puke – I was so dizzy
I’ve seen other 3-D movies. They ALL can give you a headache. I saw the 2D version of “Avatar”, because I already knew this. Anyone who does not like this movie is boring kind of person with no imagination. You know, the kind of person you would NOT want to have sex with.
Avatar is a skip it. Not worth the time. A titanic boring movie.
One word… “Excellent!”
It’s without a shadow of a doubt the best sci-fi movie I have ever seen. The story line is thought provoking and the special effects are awesome!
I rate it 5/5

This was hands down one of the most ridiculous stories ever written for the big screens. The acting was poor, the dialogue was horrendous, and the message was childish. I can’t believe all the hype that went into this picture. It goes to show you all the money hollywood has to wast on such stupidity.
I have no idea who the people were who funded this movie (maybe entirely the elitist James Cameron himself with his own money. One thing it does show is how utterly confused, hypocritical and contradictory Cameron’s world view truly is). All the way through the story and acting it frothed and mockingly pushed a long typical list of totally pathetic, elitist, hypocritical pacifist, new age/earth worship cliches.
Then add to that this overall frothing hatred that portrays all American Military and mankind itself as being all demented psychotic murders who glee in genocide and destruction of all living things, who need to be destroyed or change their ways so they can become like hypocritical new age globalist aliens.
The story line and cliches was such pathetic hypocritical, contradictory, reverse psychology, globalist, Marxist new age propaganda it was unreal. It really is prophetic as to how far American society has fallen for this filth to be made and paid for.
Don’t go to pay to see this movie unless you enjoy funding hypocritical, nihilistic, globalist earth worship propaganda indoctrination, and story lines which shamelessly mock everything good and honorable about all the military and mankind itself. It is pure animalistic, anarchistic, Marxist propaganda meant to indoctrinate ignorant simple minds into changing the world into the traditional Marxist, nihilistic, Antichrist, earth worshiping, genocidal world view which all true Marxists live, kill and die for and always will until they control all (and soon will through the UN, IMF and OECD and Climate propaganda and the enforcement thereof).
Avatar is a very entertaining movie. Great plot and story line. Definitely one of the best movies of 2009. It was worth the $300 million in production costs.
This is the best movie i have yet seen in my life. Unfortunately, I only had the choice to see the 3D version, which gave me a killer headache. The CG was totally amazing and while I agree that many ideas were totally out of place, and impossible, the storyline a bit out of whack, but combine it all together you get the movie of the year. 4.7/9
this movie was the best movie ever i watched it like 2 time. It the perfect sifi movie ever. But its the same like pirates of the caribbean movie.them avatar were teller the man. i like to b one ma self. there blue i like blue. there stroger them man.ill give this movie 100/100
Despite a few flaws, Avatar is an extraordinary experience that more than lives up to the hype.
Horrible movie. Deeply flawed on many levels. Weak storytelling.
A massive work of propaganda based on false beliefs of those suffering from mind disorders such as Gaia Hypothesis. New Age foolery.
Avatar was definitely one of the best movies I have seen. Sure there are some things in the movie that I don’t like, but what movie doesn’t have that? Anyways, the graphics are what really made this movie great! All the colors and creatures and such made for a truly awesome experience. I just finished watching Avatar on DISH Online and it is was better than the first time I saw it! As a customer and employee of DISH Network, I have had a lot of time to play with DISH Online and I love it. To be able to watch all sorts of movies and TV shows when I want is so cool. Normally there are quite a few shows that I can see on DISH Online, but just for being a customer of DISH Network, I have access to thousands more shows and movies whenever I want! I love this site! I encourage anyone and everyone, whether you are a DISH Network customer or not, to take a look at dishonline.com and see what it has for you!
