Very Light Jets (VLJs) ![]()
The headline caught my eye. The Early Warning Report by Richard Maybury just wrote that the future of big aircraft is coming to a quick end. Airbus and Boeing aircraft present big targets to terrorists and cause major headlines if one were to be shot down. Maybury says there are already 219,000 light planes in the skies now. If every one travels within the U.S. on a six passenger jet, the odds of being shot down are "almost zero". Besides Eclipse Aviation, Honda is coming soon with a VLJ suitable for air taxis as is Textron with its Cessna and Bell helicopters. Maybury says "the transition will be speeded by recent breakthroughs in aviation technology, such as advanced GPS navigation, collision avoidance, and turbo-fan engines that weigh as little as 85 pounds." The Eclipse 500 VLJ is as quiet as a vacuum cleaner! Blogger News Network is advertiser-supported, and your visits to our advertisers help BNN to meet its expenses.
