One small word for a man, one giant leap for the Grammar police.

This article explains how one man may have changed the way we hear one of the most iconic American phrases forever.

By using some new high-tech sound editing software, an Australian sound engineer, Peter Ford, has now found the missing "a". Yes, according to a few, Neil Armstrong's infamous first words on the moon were grammatically incorrect. By saying "That's one small step for man, one giant leap for mankind.", technically, he was being redundant, and effectively saying, "That's one small step for mankind, one giant leap for mankind."

Therefore, placing an "a" between the first "for" and "man" makes it more legitimate. Neil has claimed (many times) that he did say it properly the first time. Needless to say, the technology back then was much to be desired, and the assumption that a sinlge alpha character could've been lost in translation between Earth and the moon is not that far-fetched.

Now, that the "a" has been found, we can all sleep better at night. We will all now have to re-record that infamous phrase in our heads, so that the Grammar Police won't have any evidence on us.

Only Ralph Cramden could express how most of us feel about grammar Nazis all over the internet.....

"One of these days....BANG! ZOOM!! Straight to the moon!"
