WWI Remains Identified

The remains of a 23 year old solider who died in WWI was recently identified as Army Pvt. Francis Lupo, of Cincinnati, Ohio. The remains were discovered by a French archaeologist in 2003 and were sent to the Pentagon's Joint POW-MIA Accounting Command and the Armed Forces DNA Identification Laboratory. This is the first time that a WWI era soldier has been properly identified since the office was established in the 1960’s though there have been hundreds of other soldiers who have been identified from later conflicts. Pvt. Lupo is to be buried in Arlington National Cemetery on Tuesday.
