When is enough enough? One example would be the school shooting in Colorado. The things faced by the students are things nobody that age should be subjected to. I do not mean to indicate there is an age where such things become appropriate....life is not like the movie ratings systems where certain words are acceptable for a 13 year old but not a 12 and others are only appropriate after 18 years old...but I do mean they are still of an age where important conversations should be "Do you think Joey likes me?" and whether they can go to the football game Friday. The things that went on in that classroom were horrible. And to an extent it is something people need to know. But when it gets into the assaults upon the persons of the individuals, is it really vital to public interest to include more and more graffic details? Did these girls not suffer enough? What, other than prurient interest, is accomplished by adding these details? For the rest of their lives these kids will have these events as part of their experience. It is beyond the nature of news and into the realm of tabloids to continue expanding on the nasty business that went on. It is beyond me to understand what is accomplished by making public the excess details. Let us know some got out unharmed, there were some good things that came out of it such as the plea for people to perform "random acts of kindness" and lets let it go at that. You are so right on this matter. There is no need for the general public to be privy to details of the sexual assault of young ladies who were already traumatized quite enough.
