What's the difference between a dumb criminal and a politician? "I can't think of one either." "Sometimes the criminal tells the truth." "One can afford a lawyer." The last one is less funny because it relates to what has become a basic truth of American society. Proper connections can get you out of legal trouble...connections or money. We have here an example of a politician who will be one no longer because of some e-mails. Some of the e-mails have been released and in a vaccuum they do not seem all that incriminating but they also seem a bit..uhm...strange. If there were family friendships or something along that line to justify these sort of e-mails they might fly but just some random teenager off the street? No, you are in trouble. Then again, perhaps it is for the best. Do we really want a person making decisions on laws who is going to send potentially dangerous e-mails on his official account? E-mail today is easily trackable, easily readable, and very, very incriminating. People get in trouble all the time. If you are going to do things you should not do in the first place, why would you make them so easily documentable? Whether he had designs of a man-bo love connection or not, his lack of intellect in sending such a letter should be enough to disqualify him from holding office anyway. If he did have such designs...we can only hope his (former) standing as a lawmaker does not get in the way of seeing him prosecuted to the fullest extent of the law.
