The war on religion For example, choosing to preach a sermon in favor of or opposed to the War in Iraq is treading on dangerous ground. Many people believe the church has no place in politics. The IRS is such a group. As usual, the IRS is dead wrong. While I think the time for the church has better options for what to spend the sermon time on, it is not my place to tell them what they can and cannot preach. The Bible does speak about peace and the need for people to be peaceful. There can be some justification construed for what he said. There can be some opposition to his teaching as well. The point is...by changing the tax status, the IRS is essentially saying what can and cannot be said in that church. Apparently the Constitutional Bill of Rights stating Congress shall pass no law prhibiting the free exercise of religion does not extend to churches that disagree with the government. That is a scary thing. The IRS is abusing their power and it is in the interest of every God-fearing person to see their case overturned.
