US May Increase Number Of Soldiers In Iraq

"The U.S. military is likely to maintain and may even increase its force of more than 140,000 troops in Iraq through next spring, the top American commander in the region said Tuesday in one of the gloomiest assessments yet of when troops may come home," reports ABC News.

Reuters reports that this change in plan relates to the growing possiblity of civil war in the struggling nation.

The increasingly unmanagable violence between the Sunni and Shi'ite practioners of the religion of peace brings untold suffering to primarily the Iraqi people, because while the US does lose soldiers, the number of casualties is much greater among Iraqis. It's a shame that those people can't seem to set aside their differences and come together to focus clearly on how to rebuild their nation and make it a place fit to live for all of their citizens.
