SWAT Team Actions Were Justified in Bailey, Colorado Reports say that, during the 4-hour standoff with police, inside the high school classroom, he sexually assaulted "some" of the six girls he had previously hand-picked as his hostages. It's pure speculation but probably a safe assumption that Morrison 'used' each of the four girls that he had released before the SWAT team finally broke in to the classroom. This information from the four released girls, combined with his warning to police that "something would happen at 4:00" were more than enough justification for police to end the situation when they did. Sheriff Fred Wegener has been haunted by the outcome of the situation and has, no doubt, received some criticism for the way the situation was handled; but who knew what would have happened at 4:00. Here was a deranged man who no doubt knew that his life was nearly over, holding two young girls with their lives still before them. If Wegener had not acted as he did, had he not ordered the SWAT team into action, there might have been another death in that Platte Canyon High School classroom.
