Success? I'll Drink to That... Into this maelstrom of anti-alcohol rhetoric comes a fascinating study that says drinking is good for your career. Not so much the alcohol portion...but the networking that goes on around alcohol. If this is indeed an accurate study it is a sad day for American corporations. Encouraging the use of alcohol, a substance that has been responsible for many, many bad things happening but not too many good ones, is hardly the type of thing that seems like a positive business step. Everyone knows inebriation leads to poor choices so expecting it to improve business decisions seems extremely curious. The socializing and networking seem like positive steps. Building camaraderie adds to team chemistry and that is, indeed a helpful thing. It just seems like there might be a better way to build those contacts than going out to get drunk.
