Scientists Map Mouse Brain

Seattle billionaire Paul Allen has done more with his money than almost anyone else possibly could. He’s the owner of a couple of professional sports teams, he’s the founder of SETI and his charitable contributions exceed $800 million dollars. With a resume like that, it’d be understandable that you’d run out of ideas on what to do with your money. So Allen did what any billionaire would do, he gathered together some of the most brilliant scientists he could find and put together a project in 2002 to create a complete map of a mouse’s brain. The map was declared finished on Tuesday the 26th and contains 3,000 active genes. The project was the first for the Allen Institute for Brain Science and he hopes that it can be used in the future to help scientists understand and treat human neurological disorders.
