School shooter may have used MySpace

I'm quite a fan of MySpace -- it helps people keep in touch after moving away, and it lets musicians like me put songs out to a mass audience at zero cost. But only adults should be allowed to create profiles on the site; the current rule is that anyone 14 or older can join, posting pictures and personal information for public consumption in the process.

Numerous child molestations have started with perps having access to kids through MySpace, and now a school shooter is believed to have possibly researched his teen girl victims on the site. It would be nice if the owners stepped up with this issue, but barring that, the stakes are high enough that it might be a worthwhile target for government policy.
