School Hostage: What do we hope to accomplish here? Clearly if he did in fact call the police himself then there is a method to his madness. He WANTS them there. Theses tragedies always end badly. Sometimes badly for the hostages, always badly for the perps. So why would he call them in? This is a person with bad intentions in mind. It is also the most difficult time for those with friends or loved ones involved. You are stuck in that hazy area between hope that your amigo will come out of it okay and fear of what will happen. An hour feels like a month, a day takes a year off your life... And those of us who are not aware of anyone close to us involved are left to wonder what goes wrong with people that they think it is a good idea to shoot up a high school and take high schoolers hostage.
