Roman Catholic Priests Charged With Grand Theft

Two Roman Catholic priests from Florida are facing grand theft charges after an anonymous tip led them to evidence that the two priests had stolen $8.6 million dollars worth of gifts and offerings to the parish over a period of 40 years to buy personal property and other assets. The first priest to be arrested, 79 year old Monsignor John Skehan, was apprehended at Palm Beach Intl. Airport as he returned from a trip to Ireland. He is being held on $400,000 bond. The second priest, Rev. Francis Guinan, is still on the run and is currently being tracked down by law enforcement. It is unclear how much Rev. Francis Guinan stole after he succeeded Skehan three years ago but the investigation has concluded that he did steal from the church in order to fund gambling trips to Las Vegas and the Bahamas.
