R.I.P. M.T.V. MTV: 1981-1987 It would be 25 years old this year. MTV was severly injured by a show titled "Remote Control" in 1987, which caused it to fall into a deep coma for an indefinite amount of time. Shortly after awakening again in 1991, a permanent infection known as "The Real World" set in, which would forever disable MTV from ever accomplishing what it originally set out to do. Thus shattering our hopes of ever having back the MTV we all grew up with. Once greatly known as "MUSIC Television", M.T.V. has since only held the shallow meaning of "Miscellaneous Television". Looking back, the only things we can really associate with MTV are reality T.V., wardrobe malfunctions, anorexia, superficial standards, hip-hop culture, and short-attention spans. Thanks MTV.
