Rice vs. EU

It was late September when Secretary of State Condoleezza Rice met with the 25 heads of the European Union for what was supposed to be a healthy discussion. Rice was meeting with the heads on the sides while the UN General Assembly was going on and everyone had agreed to an official agenda ahead of time but unfortunately things that are planned don’t always go that way. While the meeting participants were all smiles in front of the press, behind closed doors a heated argument is reported to have taken place between Rice and Finnish Foreign Minister Erkki Tuomioja, whose country holds the rotating EU presidency, over terrorism and how best to combat the issue. The official word from the White House is that the account that is being reported has been blown out of proportion and Rice would have been happy to discuss the issue once brought up.
