President Bush Speaks Of (Sigh) "Misimpressions" Reuters reports that "with five weeks to go before midterm congressional elections, and Democrats seizing on both revelations, Bush said the leaks of a U.S. intelligence report indicating the Iraq war had increased the threat of terrorism created "a lot of misimpressions about the document's conclusions." "Some in Washington have selectively quoted from this document to make the case that by fighting the terrorists in Iraq, we are making our people less secure here at home," Bush said. "Five years after the 9/11 attacks, some people in Washington still do not understand the nature of the enemy. The only way to protect our citizens at home is to go on the offense against the enemy across the world," said President Bush, as quoted by the Washington Post. "Our safety depends on the outcome of the battle in Iraq," he said. "Withdrawing from Iraq before the enemy is defeated would embolden the terrorists." Ok, just in case anyone is interested, I'll give the brief and basic version of the language story... 842 is the first recorded usage of the Romance languages, which were common man's versions of Latin and those recorded words were those of Charlemange's grandsons taking their oaths. Well, it was a competitive era, and these grandsons were frequently at war with each other. There came a day in which, after 20 or more years, these grandsons came together to try to negotiate a sort of peace. However, dispute erupted, and frustration, as being out of direct communication for so long, living and ruling each in their own territories, they were unable to speak to each other, as they no longer shared a common language, each speaking the particular dialect of their own kingdom, which had developed such differences as to have become completely separate languages.
