Pardoning the President?

MoveOn.org is running one of their political action alerts regarding a Congressional plan to pardon the President for violating the law and Constitution by authorizing the NSA Domestic Surveillance program. The thought that Congress would even consider this just goes to show how bipartisanism degrades the operation of a government system aiming to hold people responsible for their legal transgressions. To some degree, this exemplifies the kind of authoritarianism the American Constitution was designed to prevent. This kind of pardon would only serve to diminish the rights of Americans.
