Microsoft to compete with iPod, iTunes

It seems the world might see some serious competition to the declining iPod. Microsoft is launching a similar device with more features for the same price. Users can give songs to their friends, who can listen three times before deciding whether to pay for the standard, unrestricted downloads of the compositions.

Microsoft is offering a subscription music service to compete with iTunes as well. This could be a good move, as iTunes has the extremely inefficient pricing strategy of charging 99 cents for everything regardless of length, quality or popularity.
