Marion Jones It seems Olympic Track and Field champion Marion Jones has dodged a javelin with the negative results of her “B” Steroid test recently. After her multi-gold medal winning performance at the 2000 games in Sydney Australia, events such as ex-husband C.J. Hunter testing positive for steroids, and steroid manufacturer Victor Conte stating he set up a steroid regimen for Jones, sent her world spinning. Her ex-boyfriend, sprinter Tim Montgomery didn’t help matters by being suspended for two years under accusations of using a banned substance. As the smoke finally clears in Jones’ life, it seems she has been the victim of the age old set-up, guilt by association. By surrounding herself with characters such as Hunter, Montgomery and Conte, it was a no-brainer that the powers that be, in this case The United States Anti-Doping Agency (USADA) would come after Jones with guns a blazing. After bowing out of the remaining season to relish her victory, I have a feeling next season will find her back in dominating form. Horace W.
