Mandatory HIV Testing? Reports Say Government Recommends It MSNBC reports that "for Americans ages 13 to 64, testing for HIV is expected to become as common as checking for cholesterol and blood pressure with the new recommended guidelines from the Centers for Disease Control and Prevention." Testing will be voluntary. For now. And, I am curious as to parental notification and those from 13 to 17. Will there be any or will it be like abortion and underage girls? At present, it seems that will be a state by state matter, with some states not requiring parents be notified. A sorry state of affairs for parental and family rights when a child can be pregnant, have an abortion, have HIV or other dangerous illnesses, and the parent is cut off from having information or input. Isn't it about time to put the State in its place? And, that place -- for those who have forgotten -- is out of our families... feel free to refer back to the Constitution and Bill of Rights if there is any confusion on that matter.
