Love 'Em Or Hate 'Em, The Yankees Clinched The AL East The Yankees celebrated their division title as though that had never won before. Team Captain, Derek Jeter was quoted saying, "You can talk about this payroll and that payroll, it's still difficult to win. Winning year after year says a lot about our organization." Although the Yankees have a payroll of close to $200 million, they were forced to overcome injuries to key players throughout the season in route to the division title. The Boss, George Steinbrenner, who is quick to praise as well as criticize his team was all smiles Wednesday as he told the press, Winning the division title is very gratifying to me because it shows the total Yankee organization -- on and off the field -- demonstrating incredible guts, smarts and quality in the face of adversity and stiff competition. This is just the first step, and I'm excited about playing hard to win the championship." Love 'em or hate 'em... Good luck Yankees.
