Justice for Jetseta Gage

Life times two. Consecutively, not concurrently.

Remember Jetseta Gage? I've written about her a couple of times last year, most recently in this post. Jetseta was 10-years old when she was kidnapped, raped and murdered by a friend of the family. A friend, incidentally, whose brother had previously sexually abused her.
Roger Paul Bentley has been sentenced to two life imprisonment terms for the first-degree murder and first-degree kidnapping of 10-year-old Jetseta Gage.

Bentley, 38, also was ordered to pay more than $150,000 in restitution to Jetseta's family.

Calling Bentley's actions "despicable," Judge Patrick Grady rejected a defense motion for a new trial or that the life sentences run at the same time.

Bentley, 38, was convicted in a Davenport courtroom Jan. 31 of first-degree murder and first-degree kidnapping. A jury determined that Bentley, once a Gage family friend, abducted Jetseta the night of March 24, 2005, from her Cedar Rapids home and took her to an abandoned mobile home southwest of Iowa City, where he raped and killed her.
I'm not sure which I'd rather see --- the bastard living to be 110 so he has to suffer for a lot of years, or someone deciding to tack a few years onto their existing sentence by sending him on his way early.
