Internet Neutrality With Sen Ted Stevens

Senator Ted Stevens(Rep) is stooping to new lows to try and get his Internet Neutrality bill passed. Now just to refresh you all on what this is all about; is the internet a pipeline that anyone and everyone has a fair and equitable share, or is it something that the large Telcos can fiddle with to give priority to whatever service they desire.

Just based on the fact that the Telco's are behind Sen Stevens bill should send off alarm bells in every internet users head, if the Telcos like it, you will not! It will create a tiered internet where the Telco's will have free reign to do and charge whatever they like.

According to one media source our illustrious senator has been 'Spamming' his colleagues with the result of a new "Bi-Partisan" poll that clearly indicates that the majority of voters are in favor of this tiered internet. The poll interestingly enough was paid for by "Verizon".

One question in the poll was:

Which of the following two items do you think is the most important to you?

Delivering the benefits of new TV and video choice so consumers will see increased competition and lower prices for cable TV?

OR Enhancing Internet neutrality by barring high speed internet providers from offering specialized services like faster speed and increased security for a fee?

Oh the joys of manipulating the english language!

There is a very good article that talks in depth about this new twist, you can read it here.
