Infant killed by Rottweilers

CNN has a story up about a baby girl who was killed in a Rottweiler attack. This underscores the point: Don't let dangerous breeds, like pit-bulls and Rottweilers, around kids. Children are more likely than adults to suffer bite injuries, and 75 percent of the time the problem is with a family pet.

Most people probably find this pretty obvious, but as blogger Steve Sailer has pointed out (also here), there is a strong tendency to associate with racism the observation that some breeds are more violent than others. Each dog should be "judged individually," these folks say. Dog breeds are indeed analogous to human races (same species, largely different ancestries), so I understand the concern, but when it comes to protecting children one really needs to get past political correctness and look at the statistical facts.

As for this story, I'll be looking for future reports as to who owned the dogs. The canines dragged the girl to the roof of a pub her parents ran.
