High School Musical Meets Steep Competition For Jewish congregations and organizations, Rosh Hashanah brings an annual renewal and re-commitment to prayer. “It is only once every 30 years that these two important religious festivals coincide,” says Farrow. “Significantly, both religions worship the god of Abraham, and both are highly cognizant of Moses.”The active part of Ramadan is to really get closer to God and to feel content, to feel inner peace, notes Farrow: “To try to go out of your way to teach others, to help others." Meanwhile, notes Farrow, Rosh Hashanah is a time for reflection where individuals look back on what they did this past year and realign themselves with what their purpose and mission in life is in order to improve in the forthcoming year.Among the most popular Rosh Hashanah prayers in the television community, notes Farrow, is the blessing for fruit, Borei Pri HaEtz, followed by the words "Yehi Ratzon ... shetehadesh allenyu shanah tovah umetukah." “Which means, ‘May it be Your will to renew for us a good and sweet year,’" Farrow says. “It was a favorite prayer of Aaron Spelling, may he rest in peace.”Farrow’s main competitor in the teen musical category, Disney Channel’s “High School Musical,” has coincidentally scheduled its U.K cable release to coincide with the propitious Sept. 22nd commencement of Ramadan and Rosh Hashanah. “In many ways, the huge success of ‘High School Musical’ mirrors the trajectory of these two highly influential religions,” says Farrow. “Except it is only Disney that is planning a sequel."Indeed, notes Farrow, since premiering on the Disney Channel in the U.S. earlier this year, the all-singing, all-dancing “High School Musical” has become nothing short of a phenomenon, setting records around the world.“Not since ‘Fame’ or ‘Grease' or ‘Hairspray’ has a musical had such impact," says Farrow. "Like my own musical, ‘High School Musical’ is rollicking and squeaky-clean, geared for a young and lucrative audience.”So far, notes Farrow, Disney’s “High School Musical” has been seen by over 40 million people, and it has earned a Guinness World Record for the most successful songs from a song track. With its popular songs and frenzied toe-tapping, “High School Musical” has become the most popular Disney Channel movie ever, says Farrow. “And we anticipate the same bright future for our own teen musical, 'In Your Dreams.'” Blogger News Network is advertiser-supported, and your visits to our advertisers help BNN to meet its expenses. I just got my tickets for the concert performance of 'In Your Dreams'. I'll be going twice, on Oct. 9th at 8pm and on the 10th at 2pm! Rumor has it that Congresswoman Sherri Davis might be flying to NY to appear in the show and also that she plans to make a major public statement onstage at some point. (That's why I'm going twice!) Although the cast hasn't been made public yet, I know for a fact there are some major stars who have been clamoring for parts! There's such excitement and everyone wants to attach themselves to this amazing project! Couldn't wait to share all that!
I have heard that Bill Cosby and his wife might be producing this musical, with an all black cast, kind of like the musical "The Wiz" back in 1975. Coz will definitely be in the audience but not sure which day.
It doesn't surprise me that Bill Cosby would want to team up with Marc Shaiman to do this. Both of them are extremely talented and well-connected individuals. And Cosby has more money than God!
That makes absolutely no sense. Marc Shaiman is currently working on the film version of "Hairspray" with Adam Shankman and New Line Cinema, so he would have no interest in doing this with Bill Cosby -- even if he was available, which he is not.
Also a movie like this only has a budget of like $4 million so it does not take a big movie company like New Line Cinema to do it, a much small film company could easily do it, and probably will given the success of HSM. New Line Cinema does not make $4 million movies anymore! They are after bigger game!
Marc Shaiman, multi-tasker extraordinaire (he's everywhere, he's everywhere...), most definately does have ties to the "In Your Dreams" project. As one of the Farrow/Piane song titles emphatically states, "That's a Fact!". About the Cosby rumor, I have nothing to add at this point in time...more later on that for sure.
Actually I have been fairly busy of late raising funds for the proposed slavery museum in Fredricksburg, Virginia, and with a speaking tour to inner city high schools, so I have not had any involvement with this musical. However, I did listen to the songs, which I liked, particularly the song called "Don't," and I wish you all the best of luck with this.
Thanks Cos! You beat me at posting your news here by doing it yourself. Thanks for taking my suggestion and going to www.inyourdreamsthemusical.com so you could listen to the music. Glad you have a fave song, too. Sorry we won't be seeing you at one of the performances but, hey...I know we'll be seeing each other again soon. You rock, babe!
Camille will be there, it's really more her area of interest than mine. Meanwhile I hope that every American will donate $8 this month to help fund the U.S. National Slavery Museum. We've been working to find funding for this project for a decade now and it is an important cause.

I remember seeing "In Your Dreams" in 2004 when Marc Shaiman and and Scott Wittman, the musical geniuses behind "Hairspray," workshopped it with Christine Ebersole at Feinstein's, and it was a blast. So I will definitely be there if I can!
