Google News in trouble in Belgium A Brussels Court has ruled that Google News has to remove all articles from Belgian publishing group Copiepress because it is in breach of author's rights and Belgian databank regulations. Disrespect to the court's order would mean a penalty of €1m per day for Google. Google's interpretation of "fair use"in the protected works has come under scanner time and again. Currently, Google News is embroiled in at least two other lawsuits - one each in the District Court of Columbia and Paris Commercial Court. The present lawsuit is filed by the publishers of the newspapers Le Soir, La Libre Belgique and La dernière herure complaining about the scanning of news by Google News. Google is waging a war against the copyrights and considering the popularity of the search engine, Google seems to be winning the battle hands down. Blogger News Network is advertiser-supported, and your visits to our advertisers help BNN to meet its expenses. Help keep us afloat! posted by rajiv at 10:49 AM |
