Good for you, Charlie!

Democratic Representative from New York, Charles Rangel, said he was personally offended by Hugo Chavez's comments about President Bush. Chavez had compared the president to the devil during his speech before the U.N. General Assemply. Rangel said that neither chavez nor any other president can come to the United States "and think because we have [disagreements] with our president" that they can insult our president and think that Americans won't be offended.

Here's his quote: "You don't come into my country, you don't come into my congressional district, and you don't condemn my president. If there's any crticism of President Bush, it should be restricted to Americans - whether we voted for him or not."

It isn't often that I agree with Charles Rangel but I wholeheartedly agree with his statement and give him kudos for saying what I and so many others are thinking.

Nancy Pelosi who is the House Minority Leader and a Democrat from California is another representative that I often disagree with but give her points for her statement: "Hugo chavez fancies himself a modern day Simon Bolivar but all he is is an everyday thug."

We give everyone the right to free speech here in the U.S. and Chavez certainly took advantage of that. It's too bad that citizens of his country don't have the same privilege. Isn't it just like men such as Chavez to claim privileges for themselves that they are not willing to share with others!
