Freedom of speech...or just stupidity?

A jihad is a holy war. It hardly seems like a strong sales pitch. In fact, it does seem like it has the potential to be flat out offensive to some people.
Oh, sure, if you followed the link above you might take the second definition: any vigorous, emotional crusade for an idea or principle. It seems less likely you would when you take into account the offer of swords to the children of automotive purchasers. Tack on the naming of it as "Fatwah Friday" and all doubt is removed. A Fatwah is NEVER anything other than a ruling made by an Islamic religious scholar.
Here is the thing; in this country, you have many rights but one of those rights is not to avoid ever being offended. Sometimes you are going to be offended. Various "protestant" Christians are offended on a regular basis as they are labeled "fundamentalists" with truly vicious undertones, "extremists", "whackos" and other equally insulting things. Atheists are offended when they see the Ten Commandments or other religious paraphanelia on public property. Some people are offended by crudity and profanity on public airwaves and other people are offended that the first group expresses that they were offended.
In this country you have the right to say things that offend people. If you are offended, yes...make your opinion known...but deal with it.
The dealership has the right to run that ad, the radio stations have the right to refuse it, and customers have the right to hear it, choose to buy, or choose not to buy based on what they hear.
Sure, it seems in poor taste. But the day we are prevented from saying things because someone will be offended is the day the only sound left in this country is the crickets. Of course, it is always possible to go to the other extreme....
