Former Playmate sues police, cabbie, NYC This story is mildly amusing: Former Playboy model Stephanie Adams, now 35, claims she was "roughed up based on [a] cabbie's false accusation that she was armed and dangerous." Beyond her innocence or guilt, the question is, "why is this newsworthy to CNN?" The model's fifteen minutes (or is it pages?) of fame were in November 1992. It's amazing how Playboy continues to attract attention despite decades of declining sales -- an acquaintance of mine who wrote for the magazine in its heyday once commented that, where the publication was once (seriously) known for good writing, now it stays alive by distributing pornography on the Internet. Pictures of naked women are no longer difficult to come across, so the models can no longer bring in enough readers to merit the attention of high-caliber writers. So why does CNN still care about the legal travails of a woman who posed almost 15 years ago? Robert VerBruggen blogs at http://robertsrationale.blogspot.com.
