Forced to Be Free! Kill Democracy to Save Democracy! Can Someone Please Explain!! Probably the justification offered by the Thai military coup leaders is along similar lines.Stab the democracy in its back to rescue democracy. If we thought democracy is a form of government which reflects the choice of the people, here is a new definition upcoming. It is not so new also, given the history of several south east Asian and South Asian states. The most popular democratic leader in Thailand was ousted in absentia and yet the coup leaders proclaimed and most Thais seemed to agree that its a pro - democracy military coup! It's time to put in a little thought. Can charges of corruption justify a forceful removal of an elected leader. When will these military elite stop assuming the roles of paternalistic saviour of people and let "people" be the master of their own destiny, good or bad? Let democracy be what it is first and foremost - "we, the people". Blogger News Network is advertiser-supported, and your visits to our advertisers help BNN to meet its expenses.
