Food Police Strike Again

New York -- Once again New York City officials know what is best for you. After their successful bid to ban smoking indoors in the city, health officials now have a new target -- trans fatty acids. The city health department unleashed its new plan on Tuesday that would ban chefs at any of the cities nearly 25,000 restaurants to use the so-called artery clogging hydrogenated oils.

Chuck Hunt, executive VP of the city's chapter of the NY State Restaurant Associate, says that this ban would "wreak havoc" across the city and nation, since national chains would not be excluded from the ban.

Mr. Hunt is correct. This ban would force numerous chains including McDonald's, KFC, and even Dunkin Donuts to alter the way they cook in only one city of the nation. Local chefs would have to revamp and edit hundreds of recipes. All to save the arteries of millions of moronic New Yorkers who can't figure out that such foods are bad for the body. When is too much government interference in our lives enough? And why does the health official of NYC have the power to disrupt business and charge people millions of dollars over something that may change tomorrow? It wasn't so long ago that we thought eggs were bad and spinach was good.
