Explosion Damages Gaza Church Office

Reuters reports:

"A youth centre run by the Greek Orthodox church in the Gaza Strip was slightly damaged by a small explosion on Friday, witnesses said.

It was unclear if the blast was connected to comments made by Pope Benedict about Islam that have sparked a backlash from Muslim leaders."

Muslim leaders in Gaza have called for protests later on Friday.

"The Pope should reconsider his statements and must stop offending the Muslim religion," Palestinian Prime Minister Ismail Haniyeh of Hamas said."

Well... I find it offensive that when Catholics arrived in the Americas, the end result was upwards of 90% of the native populations died, with countless of those dying as a result of forced conversions. In fact, I've written on the topic and will share a quote from my essay Creation Of A Gifted People: The Mayan Calendar, published in Underground! The Disinformation Guide To Ancient Civilations, Astonishing Archaeology And Hidden History:

"In 1562, over a period of three months, the second bishop of the Yucatan, the Spanish Friar Diego de Landa attempted to civilize and Christianize the native peoples using conversion techniques that included mutilation and torture. He struggled to make the natives accept his loving and peaceful Christ as their lord through such means as burning dissenters alive, hanging them from trees, and drowning them."

Fortunately, I can write those things, have them published and publically read without a Catholic version of a fatwa against me, without a hit squad supported by the Vatican or a group of priests coming to murder me or whatever family members they can in my stead. I don't have to worry about local Catholics coming to burn my house down, nor do they demand that I refuse to speak of or apologize for writing about documentable fact or justifiable opinions, meaning those derived from a reading of scripture and history, as well as the study of social experiences and ramifications of specific practices. And, furthermore, the Vatican has acknowledged many of the mistakes of the Church in the past and has even issued formal apologies for some of their past official policies and behaviors.

As often as the Catholic Church is insulted and derided, how many times in the modern era have we seen international rioting or terror attacks on the behalf of the Chruch? Can we say the same for the 'religion of peace'?
