Dozens of Germans line the streets for Pope visit

Literally dozens of natives are waiting in unbearable anticipation for the visit of their native son (or Deputy of the Son, if you prefer) Pope Benedict XVI (as in eXtremely Very Important). Dozens of non-Bavarians, that is. Down there the count will go up into the hundreds, maybe.

Remember when the old Pope John Paul George and Ringo or whatever used to visit Poland and everybody there went absolutely ape you-know-what? It’s the same thing with the natives here, only different. Or only indifferent, I should say.

Böse Zungen (wicked tongues) are spreading the rumor that he’s only come here to follow Günter Grass’ bad example and admit to his dark past (he was once a German) so he can plug his new book (see above) which actually isn't new at all. But who’s going to listen to wicked tongues at a time like this?

Wir sind immer noch Papst!

You might want to update your headline to "quarter of a million turn out to welcome the Holy Father"
