Dog Let Out of the Cage

Duane "Dog the Bounty Hunter" Chapman has been let out of his cage, at least for the time being, the Associated Press is reporting. He was freed after posting $300,000 bail and being ordered to wear an electronic monitoring device. While his attorney argued the monitoring device was overkill, he acquiesced seeing how it was better than the alternative. Dog's son Leland and colleague Timothy Chapman (no relation) were both released on $100,000 bail. The three men also had to surrender their passports and agree not leave the state of Hawaii. They will not be allowed to possess firearms. Of course, A&E was there to capture everything for Dog's popular reality television series.

Dog's arrest for illegal detention and conspiracy has been the source of controversy. There are many who feel Dog is a hero, and should be above the law. That apparently what's good for the goose is not good for the gander. While there is no argument a dangerous man is behind bars, the questions remains: Why is Dog above the law? What makes him so special he can burst into another country and break their laws? He considers himself a role model, yet jumps bail in Mexico. If one of his "busts" was arrested on similar circumstances, would Dog set him free, or would he let him go? I guess it would depend on whether or not the cameras are rolling. Perhaps Dog would do whatever gave him the most publicity.
