Dog the Bounty Hunter Arrested in Hawaii

The details are sketchy, but the Associated Press is reporting that Duane "Dog the Bounty Hunter" Chapman was arrested early this morning in Hawaii. Though his publicist has confirmed this had indeed happened, she provided no further details. MSNBC, on the other hand, is reporting that Chapman, his brother Tim, and son Leland were arrested by US Marshalls on kidnapping charges, and face extradition to Mexico. This is allegedly in relation to the Andrew Luster case, in which Chapman and his posse took Luster into custody in Mexico where he fled to after being charged with rape. In Mexico bounty hunting is against the law.

Dog and family can expect to remain in custody for at least three days when the bail hearing is set.

I wonder who the Chapman family has angered, who was benefitting from the sale of ice in Hawaii and wants Dog and his crew out of the way. It seems everyone he arrests is affected by ice, using or selling and he has the same message for each of them. STOP. So, so whose pocketbook is shrinking from this?

With all the criminals fleeing from Southern California to the border in Mexico so they can't be extradited - our Government chooses to go after someone who actually made a difference on behalf of Luster's victims? I am embarassed that the Federal Government behaved so outrageously and caved in to ANY pressure from Mexico - a corupt and abusive country. This is wrong! Free Dog!Free Leland! Free Tim ! We are praying for you all - Beth be strong, hug those babies - this will be over soon! Love you all! Debbie and Family

The U.S Marshalls didn't have the brains to catch the rapist so the Dog sniffed him out. Now he has marshalled himself some jealous enemies. How many Marshalls did it take? I wonder how many Marshalls it takes to screw in a light bulb. Jeez no wonder we have so much crime in this country.

Interesting that there are millions of illigal alien mexicans here in the US being basically protected by the US gov. Meanwhile the US marshalls arrest an AMERICAN HERO ON BEHALF OF THE MEXICAN GOVERNMENT. GOD HELP THIS COUNTRY!

How ridiculous is this??? Mexico wouldn’t extradite Andrew Luster, but we will extradite people (DOG and the pound) to a country where you are treated like shit and abused because we want to uphold the terms of treaties between the U.S. and Mexico. Why when Mexico wouldn’t with Mr. Luster? Could money have something to do with it?? I’m sure Andrew Luster was spending quite a bit of money in Mexico. Or could it be all the hatred people have developed towards illegal immigrants?? Either way it is a grave injustice. I do have one question though,,,,, Why didn’t Dog appear for his court date???? He should have known what could have happened if he didn’t appear…. Makes you wonder….. I love Dog and the Pound....

OMGoodness, what next, will Dog and associates get charged with stopping the "ice" in paradise. This Meth use is destroying people and families more than any other known drug.

Here he is risking his life to bring a rapist to justice, what a crock !!!

You are all obviously ignorant of the case law on this. It was made quite clear by the Kear/Jaffe case that the authority of American bounty hunters to apprehend fugitives does not extend beyond US borders. In fact, by carrying out bounty hunting activities in a foreign country, Dog was violating US law in addition to Mexican law.

Break the law, go to jail. Well, nobody ever said he was the smartest man around...

Here is what I can not under stand is that we (the USA) would agree to extradition to Mexico when we (the USA, again) demanded that Gary McKinnon be extradited from England.

Lets count, we stand up to a stronger country (England) yet back down from a weaker country (Mexico). WOW!!! That blows my mind.

Mexico is nothing but a bunch of thieves and rapist anyway, and they wonder why we are building a fence on the border.

What many seem to be missing is that Dog and company broke the law in Mexico. Not only did they break the law, but they jumped bail and became fugitives from justice. Is what is good for the goose not good for the gander? Bounty hunting is illegal in Mexico. Why is it ok for Dog to be above the law, but none of the other fugitives are allowed the same consideration? Dog obviously cared more about fame than the law.

By the way, most bounty hunters feel Dog gives a bad name to the profession and would never conduct themselves in such a manner.

Because they are fugitives you goofball. They don't deserve shit. Especially that guy who drugged and raped three women. And don't talk about Mexico having any sort of legal system that anyone should take seriously. Everything over there is a complete joke. Everyone knows that.

The arrest of Dog is exemplery of the continuous mistakes that inept government employees are continuously making. This should never have been allowed to happen. I believe we should identify the person responsible for this mistake and make that individual accountable. This is inconceivable that an American should be arrested for a misdemeanor and be extradicted to Mexico. Often, serious crimminals are not extradicted due to expense and lack of interest. How can this be allowed to happen. Where is the media coverage? Justice must prevail! FREE DOG AND FAMILY

I am shocked over what happened to Dog and his family. The man has done good in so many ways.I really hope all goes well for him and things turn out for the better. He has came along way in life and has learned from his mistakes. He tries to help others .It takes a bigger man to try to see the good in a person regardless of what they have done, then treat them like a peice of garbage.I pray for him and his family.

Dog is the good guy! He gets the bad guy's! Simple. All you prima donna legal eagles are myopic and cold hearted. If that were your girl that got drugged and raped by the Max factor man, you would be singing a different tune. The only tyranny going on here is that our government should be protecting Dog, not sending him and his family to do time in Mexico. Dog Rules!

I’m glad he got called out on his hypercritical actions of skipping Bail. Who is he to have a show acting as a good guy arresting criminals when he is doing the same thing? Yes Dog was a convicted felon before and apparently he hasn’t changed. For this his show needs to be cancelled for embarrassment. How dare them people go around acting like bad asses making America look bad. He is sending out the signal to everyone one that our police force is worthless. What ever happened to professional behavior? If he wanted a career like this why couldn’t they do what most people do in America, go to school and learn it, not but a video camera and a bottle of mase? I want to see the footage, I would love to see him and his false-morale family gets arrested. Don’t get me wrong, I’m glad someone is trying to save the world, but why did it have to be a family found in the far end of a trailer park?

If you could read the whole blog, and understand the whole concept of EMBARRASMENT TO THE U.S you would then understand why his show needs to be cancelled, and to make a comment as pompous toward me, what information did I give you about me to make that judgment call. That’s personal and you don’t know anything about me, so it shows you’re as ignorant as the dog!! You must be the kind of person who hopes to meet someone in life to make a career instead of working for one (like Dwayne – and if you don’t know who Dwayne is… look it up) Bow-wow go sniff up someone else’s ass!!! I’m not to pompous; just to smart for u. and you can call me Dr. Moffat like the rest of the world, you lost your privileges!

I am so upset at this whole ordeal. Why did the government have to wait a whole 3 years. Tomorrow, when I go back to school, I'm going to start my own pettition to free Dog and his son and brother. The US has extradition treaties in place with Mexico. Dog knew this. He also knew it was illegal to go bounty hunting in Mexico, yet he did so anyway. Dog knowingly went into another country and broke the law. The US would have dealt with Mexico and gotten Luster, Dog knew this, he's just an attention whore.

And then what does he do? He jumps bail. How is that ok? If he's such a hero, such a role model, such a fine example of a human being, why does he jump bail. Why not go back and face the music?

The other poster was right. I saw that documentary too where the other bounty hunters say Dog gives them a bad name. They also said he gives away all their secrets and is more interersted in fame than doing the job right.

Here's some links, but it was all on tv in a documentary about bounty hunters:

How do the govenment so them thanks..... By locking them up for doing there job. I will be behide the Chapmans 200% and I hope all the fans are too. May God bless the Chapman family.
